I personally can understand the confusion, but i think it is fair the way the softwares are.

Vdj cannot justify anything until they get Hercules to remove the full VDJ statement from the box and their web site. They are guilty until they do so. They know it's false advertizing but they still condone it.They can resolve this issue and come out the hero. But they haven't have they . So as it stands they should offer some kind of deal to fix this travisty.

On my DJ Console Box, I can read:
"VirtualDJ: Full professional DJ software. Specially tailored for DJ Console."
And this is what is included in! You have all features you need to do a great mix/work with the DJConsole version.
I think the team must be really disapointed to allway do his best to provide the better solution at the best price and see how people complains!

I had VDJ first, before the controller. It does NOT say "Full Virtual DJ program" anywhere on my box and I got one of the first ones. All together I paid $379.00 for ths program. For another very well know software I paid over $1,000.00 in total and still cannot get it to work where I can use it at a gig. I have used VDJ all year and still have my two DJ's on it. VDJ has to make their money. To keep this site up, to create updates. Lets concentrate on asking for improvements to the system as well as the console because we know they need some, rather than trying to get something for nothing. I think VDJ has done a good job. I am not a teamer, I am just a DJ that has read the comments. If you have to spend, the $129.00 spend it. It's well worth it. If you don't want the plug in's then fine. Let's try to work with them here. You console people are taking too much time away from the programmers to upgrade the product where it needs it, trying to get freebees, where there are those of us that spent the $$ and just want all of our functions to work. I am telling you, VDJ has given me the best service by far than any of the others comparatively. And I have all the main ones. BPM, VDJ, ADJ, PCDJFX. Event though, I am going to begin using another program because of the plug in's they have made, I still have my other DJ using VDJ because of the ease and reliablity of the product. I never really had much of a problem and neither has he. I have more of an issue with the controller itself than not getting the software for free. Can we please focus on what is important for VDJ to work on. Thanks for your help.

Your console working great ? Virtualdj give in the blundel works great with it ?
If the both answer are yes, with do you complain ?
- Did you need the differents controllers support ? No, you have the Dj Console version who works great with your Dj Console.
- Did you need differents soundcards support ?No, you have the Dj Console version who works great with your Dj Console.
The Up date ? looks at the update page you have one.
If Hercules give a full version of Virtualdj on the blundel, did you think that it will be a this price ?

"VIRTUAL DJ Full Professional DJ Software. Specifically tailored for DJC"
Did you try to translate it in french :
Virtual Dj logiciel professionnel complet, spécialement conçu/taillé, pour la Dj Console.
By "Full" you must understand that you have lot of Professional fonctions.

I got the same problem with the serial number and my hercules dj console !
First, this is not commercially fair and any trial might solve the question
Second, it is not very clever to include pseudo total version of software in Hercules packs
Third, it will encourage hacking...so just wait

Hi, I'm really upset too:
Well, I totally agree with everybodies complains. And, no, DJ Walkers, it's really not fair at all.
I can't use the version delivered with the DJ console, it crashes always after two or three songs, or some column become invisible, etc, etc, etc.....
It's totally unacceptable, the argument of having Virtual Dj included was a key argument for me. I'm very disapointed now. I supposed you made some arrangement with Hercules, I mean they probably buy your software, so it's included in the price of the console! Now I have to buy another version from you!? Don't be silly... It's a commercial lie...
Another thing, how can I be sure, once I have bought the new version, that it will work perfectly????????????
Now way I will not spend more money, I will not give money to liers...

Hi everybody,
As others, I really realized that VDJ was not the FULL version
the 1st time I tested it - tricky advertisement.
At this moment, as you guys, I get really disappointed.
Ok, let's forget this bad impression and move forward. I see
two proposals here above that can probably help to come out
to a solutions satisfying both sides (Atomix vs. Customer):
First: "Can we have a special price even if the rebate is not
very important". I think it would be fair because we hold
already a version which is not demo.
Question, why could it be impossible ?
Second: Following the kykeon concerns about the operation
of the registered version.
I wonder if a special demo version can be used to evaluate
what we can gain to motivate us to buy.
Is the current demo sufficient for that purpose ?
Still open ;-)

the biggest problem with all this upgrade stuff is how do you PROVE that you accually own the console. the console in itsself needs to be pluged into the computer in order to run virtualdj, this is your serial. if atomix could come up with a way that would easily make an upgrade possable to the djconsole users i believe that they would.
If any of you can come up with a fool proof way to prove that you own a console they may be inclined to give you an option to upgrade.
At the moment you are effectivly asking them to just drop the price of the program (which is already redicuasly low for what the program has to offer).

I agree using the word "full" is a case of false advertising. I was under the impression I was getting the complete product on purchase. I will be taking this issue up with Consumer Affairs in my country (Australia).
I think Virtual DJ is an excellent product, but I do not beleive you should try to fool customers (and by looking at this thread many have been fooled) into what they think they are paying for. In my view I did not receive a "Full professional DJ Software Specifically Tailored for DJ Console" What I DID receive was a "Custom Specifically tailored software for DJ console".
You can see the big difference between advertising words.
not a happy customer.

I'm with you Grug... Actually, I think it's illegal to create an illusion that you'll receive a full version when you don't...
I've seen the upgrade, and downloaded it, but what I really want access to is the add-ons... I spent weeks organizing my mp3's with ID3-tags, but VDJ can't read them without an add-on, which I, as an Hercules DJ Console user can't get, even though it says EVERYWHERE that I'll receive a full version...

Hi I am trying to install the Virtual DJ software for Hercules console on my laptop but it is giving me the message in an alert box "wrong serial number - contact --@--.--" when I open up the programme.
It recognises the DJ console fine but there must be a serial from a previous installation tripping the application up.
I've been through the registry on XP but cannot clean off the previous install.
Can you assist in how to get round this as I've tried the software and really like it.
Many thanks

i agree to complaints that the vdj-version supplied with the hercules console is no FULL version.
but... also note that this not Atomix's responsebillity! it's HERCULES that prints 'VDJ FULL VERSION' on the DJConsole retailbox. so.. you can't blame Atomix for this false advertising.
I have send a complaint to Hercules some months ago, never got an answer ...as i already expected :-( now everybody can see what kind of company Hercules is.
on the other hand, i had a hardware issue (hyperactive jogdails), i sent my console back to Hercules, they sent it back fixed and reflashed within 3 weeks.. no charge.
but still no answer to my complaint.

Hi
Don't you guys get any money when HERCULES sells a console.
Because whe pay a lot of money for these console's so also we like to get updates and effect's when they are released.
If you don't get any money I do understand why you want us to buy a legal licence, and as soon as i have some money i will. (and please talk to HERCULES if that is the case, you would avoid all these questions)
thanx a lot

The Hercules console is not such a bad product afterall. I still think it is still a great tool and value for money (except for false advertising)
think of what those Pioneer decks cost, about 1500+ euro each (and you need 2 of them!)
so stop complaining man, it's not so bad. This story/complaint keeps to be posted and posted each time someone buys a hercules-console and finds out that vdj is not the full-version.
all others on this forum have heard it so many times.
get yourself a fullversion for 99 euro and be part of the vdj comunity you won't regret it.

We remember you that on the Hercules package this is printed "Included: VIRTUAL DJ Full Professional DJ Software. Specifically tailored for DJC".
The version you get is fully professional, and is tailored for the DJConsole. That's nor printed you get a full version and a license.

I kinda see the problem....
BUT, you do get a WORKING version with the console!
It works for ever and ever, together with the console....
It's NOT a demo, its a working console version...
AND, there has even been updates to the console version made by VDJ.. (look in download section..)
But still, guess it should be clearer on the box from Hercules that it is a special version made for Hercules console use...
But then again, correct me if I'm wrong, when buying gadgets you usually get software along, but they are almost never the lastest fully working edition, but rather a light version or a demo. And the other programs on the console CD are not fully versions too...
Don't remember the exact words on the box (which I bought too...), but on Hercules web-site it says:
"..Virtual DJ (DJ Console Edition) from Atomix Productions, a dedicated version of a professional DJ software suite.."
so, I guess if this is the text they put on the box from now on, there will be less room for misunderstanding....
As for asking a console version to be able to download effects, updates or other things... It's really up to the VDJ team, and not very realistic that "free" version should have all the goodies, all the updates etc - because what's the point buying the software then! (seen from the VDJ teams point of view)... I too was a console user for some time.. And surly then wanted updates, effects and EVERYTING .. :) So from a console-users point of view, I can understand ... But still, not very realistic, as the VDJ team is a business. They must make money, so free versions getting all, is not very smart business, I guess :) And I totally respect that, because I don't think we would have seen such fast development and improvement if it was not a business, but a freeware...
BUT, its really VDJ's choice, and the "wrong" labeling in the Hercules box is not VDJ's fault.
