I had a post somewhere else on this board but I am not getting any responses so I am trying again here..
I am going to sum up my story.
Got VDJ...
Bought TCV... (not completely impressed.. serato is better)
Want to mix video mainly.. so off of advice from here (this forum) I upgraded my video card (6600GT 128mb APG)
My Specs:
Case: Aspire X Q-Pack (I know Cyder has this one too from his blog)
Built in power supply in case - Aspire 420 watt
Micro-ATX MOBO (ABIT VA-20)
AMD Athlon XP 2600+
1 gig of Samsung RAM PC2700 (single stick)
E-VGA 6600GT 128mb
3-250gig WD ATA Hard Drives (one dedicated for video storage)
Maya 44 MKII Soundcard
I have been using PCDJ for years and want to be able to make a smooth trasition to mainly using VDJ.
I for the life of me can't get the video to look good.
I have tried BIOS settings, different codecs, window tweaks, etc... no luck.
I thought I would experiment and took the video card out and put in an ATX motherboard with similar specs as my mobile system.
There was only a few differences.
Dual Channel RAM 2 gigs...
bigger power supply 600watt (mainly because of the amount of hard drives I have.. 7)
actually has a slower processor too AMD Athlon XP 2400+
Worked like a charm in that system...
I don't get it.
I want to get it working in my mobile system...
So should spend more money (don't want to if I don't have to) and try one of the following...
dual channel ram and max out the board? $238 2 gigs of OCZ dual channel PC3200
new micro-ATX case that supports bigger power supply? $149 SILVERSTONE SST-SG01 (allows for ATX power supply)
max out the processor to 400mhz FSB? possibly $150-$200 for 3000+ or 3200+ on E-Bay if lucky
try to new motherboard? $??? depends...
so with the given information...
do you guys think it is the motherboard, ram, powersupply, processor, or settings?
any input or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
