DJ Ying hip Hop is not the same as DJ ying dance music. Some songs i would beat match. I have many songs that are cued at a certain part of the song and i would throw it from there. I Cut, beat match, back to back, scratch, play songs that are cued up maybe a minute into the song and i would throw it in from there. When i dj hip hop.. i dont let songs play till the end. DJ ying hip hop, you gotta have alot of sessions. Its good to listen to other djs to hear how they play. Listen to the saturday night hip hop mix from your local radio station. Check out a club that plays hip hop.

A lot of great advice on blending hip hop here. Loops, scracth, slam, and sampler are all great tools. I also use an oldie but goodie, the back spin. Depending on the club you play at, you can also use the mic for mixing. Sometimes, if I'm making a significant BPM jump, I'll make the "tip your bartenders" announcement while changing the BPM. The crowd is distracted with that 5 second announcement. While they're distracted you can move from 100 BPM to 120 with little effort and no one will notice. Well... no one but Hater DJ's that will say you cheated, LOL!
