Has anyone got the answers to this question?
Who do I need to speak to in order to gain permission etc, when it comes down to using two tracks, remixing them into an entirely new song where the originals of both tunes are still recognisable, therefore leaving the question of copyright laws from the original samples etc...
The track I have mixed is very good and it is a turning point in my life to get this released to the public, not wanting to break tthe law for obvious reasons I have come here for your advice.
Please help as I do not know where else to get the answer I need.

In Canada if you want to publish a remix that you have done, you have to obtain a licence from the publishers of the songs.
So that means , calling the record company that owns the copywrite (not nessesarily the one who published the complilation) and getting they're fee for re-publishing
You have to do this for both songs. And they might say NO so get ready for that.
After that go nuts and mix away!!!
