you're probably talking about the chirp scratch.
here's how you do it:
1) you start with the crossfader open
2) then you play the sample from the start/push the record forward
3) then you have to pull the record back and at the exact moment of changing the direction you simply CLICK the crossfader so it cuts the sound into two separate sounds.
4) once you're back to the beginning of the sample you change the direction again/you push the record forward but WITH THE CROSSFADER OPEN. just like in the begining.
(you don't have to cut it again, because the beginning of the sample works like a crossfader cut. therefore you just cut the sound once but it sounds like it was chopped twice. less effort plus it sounds great when made fast).
that's it. chirp scratch.
