so far I think the ground-loop thing is the only solution (but havent tried yet), however I dont know exactly how to do it. can i make a cable myself? from what to what do i connect it? somebody throw me a frickin bone here... i just got this thing today and i've been trying to fix this issue for the last 4 hours.

well i went out there and bought some monster cables and 'rf chokes' and it didnt help at all. the same amount of hiss exists and i am a few minutes away from losing my mind completely.

does anyone have alternate solutions?

i looked at my IRQ's and my USB ports are all on IRQ 21 but its not clear which one is for the Hercules MK2.

what are you using 3.4 or demo?

and what is the mk2 pluged into?

however, i have been using these speakers for about a week and there hasnt been a problem. just today i bought the Hercules and now theres hiss everywhere.

so i tried it with traktor 3 at a latency of 50ms; it sounds pretty shitty and one of the tracks will just start skipping beats after about 2 seconds.

my laptop is fully capable of handling all these processes without any skipping or lagging... why the hell is this happening? i am not planning on going out there and spending any more money either.

well i just tried it with my headphones connected to the output 1/2 and the sound quality is still shitty and the hiss is still there.

K...

Try this:
- Play a mp3 file in Windows Media Player : does it sound good ?
(set hercules to default windows soundcard)

This is to check if its VDJ setting, or the Hercules

A bit of elimination, and we'll find the issue:)

Ok, so you just bought the Herc and now there is hissing - with out the Herc the software is just fine, correct?

Well, could be a bad driver load? Did you download the latest Herc drivers? How about your high-end laptop -- is it up-to date in it's drivers - especially DirectX?

so, things sound relatively normal through media player when the Herc is set as the sound card, however there still is a hiss that messes up the highs a bit.

when i use the Herc through VDJ or Traktor it just sounds ridiculous; like a very very low bit rate. also it'll skip/miss a beat fairly often.

i will update all the Herc drivers again and get back in a few minutes.
