Topic: 2 Different Soundcards - Is it possible?

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

Hey guys quick question...

Is it possible to have 2 different soundcards useable with a laptop?

I have a M audio Fast Track Pro and the M audio Connectiv. I now use the connectiv but this past tuesday I wanted to use my Fast Track pro and the laptop didn't see it. Do I have to install the fast track pro on a different usb port? When I plugged in the fast track pro into the port where I had the connectiv plugged in it tried to instal drivers for fast track pro but a box popped up saying I had the latest drivers.

My goal is to be able to use the fast track pro if I wanted and as a backup and if I did would I then have to reinstall the connectiv the next time I used it.?

Thanks in advance for helping to clear this up.

Yes you can even both in the same time but you need to install drivers for every USB port where you connect them, only once.

Hmm interesting.

Well I didn't uninstall my Fast Track Pro when I installed my Connectiv but when I went and plugged in my Fast Track Pro to the same port I used to have it in, where the Connectiv is now, it brought up the driver information saying the driver I had installed was the newest and did I want to overwrite it with the old one. I said NO but then the Fast Track Pro did not work. The standard soundcard error popped up when loading VDJ.

bumpity bump

anyone with any insight to what I posted above?

I know that the FTP does NOT like to be plugged into a hub. I am not sure if that is what you are trying to do or not but if so, try plugging the FTP direct

Deinstall all drivers, install one card on one usb than install second card on second usb and it should work that way.

Thanks ALF I will try that this evening. this is one of those nights I'd like to use the Fast Track Pro since I play 75 percent cds and 25 percent using laptop.

My laptop has 6 usb ports on it and a max of 3 is used at one time so no need for me to use a hub.

check this out...I did that Alf tuesda night and I made sure the fast track pro worked before installing the connectiv. after the connective I made sure it worked. I believe I tested the fast track pro again and it worked!

Tonight I'm at the club and I plug in the fast track to the usb I installed it to and vdj gives the error in the asio soundcard!!!! arrrrghhhhhhh

wth? any clue?

Make sure your setup is correct for your sound cards in VDJ settings, and you connect them before VDJ loads up. That way you can setup your cards and forget it.

Under Windows:
Unless you're on the latest release of the drivers, they conflict with one another. Meaning you can only install one or the other. Installing one driver actually 'breaks' the other.

If you're on the latest release of the drivers you can install them both at the same time, but you can't use both at the same time in most software because ASIO only allows the use of one card at a time. This can be resolved by using ASIO4ALL to aggregate the devices but does add latency - which could be an issue of you're using external control.

WDM drivers only allow you to use one channel on the sound card since they haven't offered 'extended WDM' based drivers yet (to the best of my knowledge only 2 sound cards have.. The Gigaport and one of the Creative Labs cards... There may be one or two others, but I vaguely remember these two being mentioned.

Under Mac OS X:
There is a way to aggregate the devices - but I can't remember the specifics on how to do this.

On a side note: I'm not using Virtual DJ, this thread was linked from the Torq forums and I thought I'd pass along some info...

What I found is that whatever port you plugged your device into to install it is the port you should always plug it into. For instance, I have a Hercules RMX and when I plug it into a different port it tried to re-install the drivers and I know I was current. So I Restarted my PC and plugged it into the original port and everything was fine. Now as far as running 2 soundcards at once is something I have yet to try. I have the RMX, 2 NDX 800's and a Torq Connectiv. I'll try to run 2 soundcards and let you know. BUT, if your USB's are not strong enough to run all of the components you are connecting then it doesn't matter.
