Help, I got static on all songs with hercules mk1 connected to laptop. This just started happening. I have checked previous posts and tried almost all solutions and still get static, crakle, and pop noise on all songs.

I have hercules dj console 1 connected to dell inspiron 9400 2gb ram, duo core 1.87 processor, 256mb video, i have been using vjd pro v3.4 and finally decided to upgrade to 4.3. Everything works and sounds great until i connect the hercules. I have returned 3 of them already and all are doing the same thing, so it can't be mk1.

i have tried all settings with Performance and still get static, some settings make it sound worse and others make it sound better but still get static and pops and crackles. I have checked IRQ and do not see any conflict, I can't change the properties of any of the IRQ's on my laptop.

Help I really need this to work, thank you to anyone that can help. I have tried support and they can't seem to figure it out yet.

Did you try to uninstall VDJ and use the registry cleaner?
Did you try the ASIO4ALL (http://www.asio4all.com) ASIO-drivers instead of the Hercules ones?

no, but i did reformat hard drive and re-install xp sp2.

where do i find the registry cleaner?

The problem does not happen when using the internal sound card, just the Hercules dj console 1.

Is there any special setup with the ASIO4ALL program?

Thank you for any help!!!

how are you grounding the unit?

perhaps you should get a ground loop inhibitor
you can pick them up in maplin in the uk

or radio shack in the usa

i have a ground loop isolater that connects from the dj console to my main mixer and that does not make a difference.

the problem is with the dj console and vdj.

please if anyone can help, is there anything in windows xp that can be changed?

Is anyone else having this problem?

Hey,

the registry cleaner can be found here - http://www.virtualdj.com/addons/download.html?addon_id=2936
You can also just check out the ASIO4ALL drivers as you can select them in VDJ. So you don't need to uninstall or reinstall the other drivers.
They are available as a separate sound driver in VDJ.

Just give it a try ...

Do you get the noise when the laptop is only working with the battery and not powered? I had problems with my Inspiron also. Figured out it was not giving enough power out to the DJ console. I fixed it by changing the graphics utility (catalyst control center) so that the video card consumed less power.

the noise occurs with battery or power supply.

I have not tried changing the graphics card settings. What did you choose to make the video card use less power?

Thank you!

gvmusic,
try this, go into your sound setup i think is where its at, my vdj is at home, but from what i remember if you go under config, then go into your sound options, where you see the latency, the safemode boxes, and the preset fader, make sure that preset fader is all the way to the fastest, then under latency, make sure you have it under "AUTO" nothing more nothing less,
thats what should actually fix the problem, because I have the hercules mk2 and tcv's.

like when i'm using the turntables i have to use asio and tell the sound setup that i want the latency to read at 256ms, rather than have it under auto or else it will jump alot.

But if your just using the hercules, have it under AUTO,

and that should fix your problem.

If that doesn't work, check your sound options and make sure everything is set to high and no wave or synthesize is checked in.

If that doesn't work either,
then I'm guessing your internal soundcard could be defected.
Hope this helps.

JC,

Thanks for your info! I tried and it still happens. It seems that the problem is between the dj console and the laptop via usb. I have tried connecting it to other laptops and a pc without connecting it to a sound system and still get the problem. I have tried returning the dj console and getting another one, 3 times, and I have tried mk2 and they all have the same problem.

Changing the latency in vdj helps but does not eliminate it.

I have had Dell check the laptop, only to tell me their diag shows no problem with motherboard or sound card.

Thanks for your help! Still looking for help!

Well I hate to tell you this, but the Dell is the issue here, I got a system that I COULDN'T make my MK2 work on. Me and SKY went through everything we could think of and no go. DELL=HELL. Maybe not for everyone, but all systems are different.
