Topic: Customizing a mapper??

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

Hi. I have a question about using a mapper for a controller.

If I use a mapper, will I still be able to customize the midi controls the way I would like them, or will I be forced to use the controller completely as defined by the mapper? thx in advance for any replies!

If the mapper is a plugin DLL, then you will not be able to change it. The mappings will be as decided by the programmer of the plugin. If the plugin is well designed and coded, and supports most features of VDJ, you probably won't need to alter it.

Some mapper plugins may allow some of their functions to be customised to better suit your preferences - My DAC-3 and DMC-2 (And soon Denon HC4500) mappers all allow a variety of options to be customised, such as jogwheel sensitivity, etc.

If the mapping is a MIDI XML file that a user has shared for others to use, then you can customise it as you want via the MIDI mapper built into VDJ.

NOTE: With general MIDI mapping, you won't be able to control LED's and text displays of controllers that have these. These require native support and optionally a mapper DLL plugin to function. In the future, simple lighting of LED's might be possible via the general MIDI mapper.

if you have programming skills, you may be able to create your own mapper plugin DLL that meets your exact requirements.

Ok. Thx thats great info. I guess wut i am looking for is the lights and display to work on my HC4500, but I would like the abiliity to custom program my midi control, from the controlller to software. Will I be able to do that with ur mapper?... Or will I be abel to modify your code? Thx again for ur help.

You will be able to customise some aspects of the mapper via a number of user parameters, but you will not be able to map it exactly to your own exact specifications as you can with the MIDI mapper. The mapper has different modes, buttons that perform different functions depending on certain conditions, complex LED and display behaviour that would make doing this very complicated and time consuming to implement.

The mapper will allow most aspects of VDJ to be controlled without any modifications, including effects, video effects/transitions and samples. The basic functionality of the controller will closely match that of a Denon CD player (E.g: DND4500)

At some point in the future, the general MIDI mapper in VDJ may allow basic control of the LED's on MIDI controllers.

If you're a programmer, you could write your own mapper - See http://www.virtualdj.com/developers/

If you mean the video and/or audio crossfading speed when pressing the crossfading buttons or double-clicking AUTOMIX, you can adjust the speed via user parameters.

The parameters you need to change are 'Auto Video Crossfade Speed' and 'Auto Audio Crossfade Speed' - The speed can be set in beats (Default is 4 beats) or a fixed time in seconds.

Please see the DMC2Mapper.txt manual for details of user parameter mode.

Hello,
thanks for your quick help
