Topic: DVD Video Ripping

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

I\'ve been searching through the forums hoping to find an easy answer but have not. I just received 5 more today and it\'s killing me to think what might lie ahead.

I just purchased about 50 Various DVD\'s to kick off video mixing. They are all compilation DVDs with multiple artists. Most of the DVDs I purchased \"lump\" two are three songs per .vob file. When I rip them, using DVDdecrypter, I get one file with three songs in it. Chapters I believe is the ##$%@@ term. I\'m hoping I don\'t have to manually edit them to separate into three files with the individual videos...do I? Please tell me nooooooooo.

If the answer is yes, what do you guys use to edit?

Another noobie question is do all the other files that appear on the DVD matter for anything, other then the large VOB files? I\'m guessing it\'s stuff like menu information.

Thanks for your help.

Yes some of it is menu information.

To rip dvd's this is the software I use:
http://clubdjpro.com/vjripper.php Cost Aprox $40.00 USD

It ripps DVD's to mpeg2 format. Very simple - on a DVD such as a Promo-only dvd or a compliation dvd ex: ZZtop's Greatest Hits The music videos are split into chapters. The VJ ripper ripps the Chapters into individual Music videos. You name them as the File is Created.

If I have to split videos or edit them. You can use Vegas warning sticker shock but very worth it.

There are other editing softwares out there - Pinnicle makes some nice ones (I have one of they're products)

Good Luck - and Welcome to video - Glad to have you with us!!!!

Thanks for the responses so quick. I'll read up and educate myself and report back. Sounds like there might be a solution.

Ahhhhh, fame at last ;o)

Well deserved fame TopHouse. That is one hell of a blog tutorial on this subject. I'm sure I'll have questions once I start messing around with all the shared VOB DVDs I just purchased. My head hurts now after reading it all.

Hi, Hopefully Tophouse's blog will sort you out with all the information you need.

But just to make it clear, you can definitely have a vob for each video automatically without having to split them. I think it's all in the settings menu of DVD decrypter.

I use Ulead VideoStudio, it allows for the import of DVDs and if the music videos are not already divided up into chapters then you can cut and edit the videos. Also, it will convert from and to other video formats.

i've got ulead and would never use it for ripping it just takes to long, try this www.avsmedia.com theres a free demo with no time restrictions on it and will do exactly what is needed for when your ripping, after going to tophouses take a look at my blog as well theres an easy to follow vid there about avs that i made to look at... it shows how i ripped and named two video tracks in four minutes
