Topic: weird sound from app - Page: 1

Dieser Teil des Themas ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten

I started vdj up this morning and got a weird sound...like interference buzzing or crackling. it wont play the songs without that sound. After playing around with the settings in vdj
particularly changing the sound card to single...the sound went away. Now...i use imic for my second soundcard which i do not have with me or plugged in but i have started vdj
at home without it before and didn't get this sound....anybody ever encountered this before? I haven't been able to attach my imic back up yet and put the settings back on 2 soundcards. files play fine in any other app on my mbp.

try to set autolatency in performance options

options > performances

how are you grounding too?

idealy you should just use the vv box and perhaps a mixer for headphones, as this keeps the latency lower

i have autolatency and "fastest"....btw...i'm not using with the tccd so ground isn't an issue...my current setup is vdj(cue) with total control going into a mixer. but this weird noise
came when i just used the app by itself (no total control, no mixer) just straight no external devices. I'm going to hook everything up tonight with my original settings to see if
vdj is just acting up because i don't have the externals hooked up...idk...i've done this at home several times.

uh oh...so i need serious help i think...did a total uninstall, clean reinstall and the sound came back...with all the external devices hooked up. This weird sound goes away if i change
the card to "single" output. but when i put it back on "headphones" the sound comes back...this sounds like something with my mbp...conquest!! SOMEBODY :(
BTW...all other sound apps work correctly.

what sound setup options do you have?

have you tried the latest beta?

have tried with the latest beta...did clean uninstall and put back on previous version..no weird sound until I activate the "2 cards" for "soundcards". New development:**the sound went away when i picked
"mono separated"...songs played fine...went back and selected "2 cards" and immedietaly the weird distortion sound came back.

sound setup: no input
"headphones" for output
"2 cards" for soundcards

i use the imic for the second card HOWEVER, this sound happens without that imic hooked up to the mbp. so that cancels out the driver of the imic being the prob.

I've read through this thread and can't think of anything other than the iMic's inclusion in your set-up having caused somekind of initial conflict that now repeats with or without it connected.

The only thing I would suggest on Mac OS X's side (I'll let sky offer solutions in terms of messing with Virtual Viny's settings) is to open open your System Settings control panel and then open the Sound settings option and mess with those to see what happens. Maybe change your audio input source from line in to built in or vice-versa.

Sorry I'm not that acurate right now, but I'm in windows right now on my Mac as I have to leave to set-up for a mobile gig in 10 minutes and I'm organizing my videos in VirtualDJ windows.

I'm sure sky will be back shortly and he'll probably read this and hopefully investigate this further and provide a solution.

thanks for the swift reply conquest...tomorrow if you can find some time to help out that would be great if sky can't get me going. thanks again. tonights.....gonna SUCK!!!!

vv isnt really designed to be used with another card its ment to be used as a complete solution using a mixer
for the headphone previews

the imate card is quite a low quality card with quite a high latency so this could be the cause

if you use an external mixer to headphone preview do you still have problems with it?

does it still have the same problem if you try to use the internal mac soundcard for headphone preview?

interesting even furthur: I ran up to the club and got the imic....hooked it up and: sound is perfect coming out of the imic but horrible coming out of the internal speakers and headphone jack.
as far as the mixer solution...wouldn't you still need the second soundcard to get the divided pfl? the line coming from the imic is going to the mixer..so...headphone jack to channel 3/4 and imic to channel 1/2. btw...i have vv but i'm not using it as vv...using just the app.

so far i know this is app related not mbp...i also have another dj app and everything is working perfectly out of that app...even with the imic hooked up and cueing.

alright i understand now sorry i thought you where attempting to use vv box with the second card

vv has 3 outputs for a 3 line mixer for independent cuing

the problem in this case is probably down to latency

the internal card may not support the same latency as the imic

try setting a higher value for latency on performances

such as 23 ms or 11 ms , these are comfortable values for the macs internal soundcard

ok...none of that worked actually made worse...so here i am so far:

sound works fine when: single output mode or headphone mode with "mono separated" as the soundcard.

sound distorts when: headphone mode or mixer mode with "2 soundcard" selected...this distortion only comes from internal sound...sound from imic is crystal clear.

I have done a clean uninstall and reverted back to 4.3r13...that didn't work...then installed 5 back on..that didn't work either...12 yrs in computer field and this one has got me completely stumped and I don't know much about macs....uuuughhhh.

sky...any other suggestions? anybody!!??? HEEEEEELLLLP

im trying to test this issue , i dont have the imic

but two card mode definately works tried it with hercules , xponent and a standard 4.1 card

do you have a ichat screenname and do you have 10.5 if so i can try to support you remotely

if so pm me your details

sky...trying to find anything that i have forgotten that changed in my enviornment...the only thing that was to happen around this time is boot camp expiring..think that has anything
to do with it? No, I don't use it or haven't used it in a long time but i do know it expired recently.

bootcamp should not have an effect

still testing it will get back to you asp

ok...just to keep u upto date: i have done a total uninstall of vv and did an install of cue LE...same problem. I installed vv on my backup mbp...problem was not present...i know
u thinkin..."jus use ur backup" well, cant...it gets rented out and I'm not puttin vv on there for people to steal :) also...i have reinstalled mac os (just os reinstall) kept all files...reinstalled vv
and problem still present. my next step is to do a total erase and reinstall just to make sure there is nothing conflicting.

sky...did "erase and install" on system...guess what....prob is gone!!! NOW...scared to put latest update on...doin it now...keep ya posted.

installed latest apple update and all is well and working!! Though I really don't know what caused it, it seemed the only thing that fixed it was a total erase and install of os.
or maybe something I had installed on there conflicting. I looks as though conquest might have been on the right track...SKY, thanks so much for your help, I really appreciate it.
