Topic: Starting Out...

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

I currently run my own Electro/House/Breaks nights at the moment and am looking to start djing at them to save on DJ costs. A good way to kill two birds with one stone...

Anyways I feel I know a lot about music and feel that I have the potential to put on a good show in regards to djing but I a bit lost when it comes down to the technical stuff. I currently mess around mixing stuff at home and feel some of it is pretty tidy but I really do need to invest in a mixer.

Say I wanted to give it a go, would a laptop, mixer and harddrive be enough to take down to the club and get going straight away. The club is kitted out with lights, smoke machine etc... and has a funktion one system so no worries there. Anything else I should invest in?

Is it simply a case of plugging a laptop in, plugging the mixer in and off I go? Or would I be better off investing in a pair of CDJs and mixer and just going off those?

Any help much appreciated...

you got the basics there to get you up and going i would suggest before attempting this live you get into the club and do a few hours testing and practice with your setup, plus you want to make sure you have a back up system in place ie cd players or decks just in case something goes wrong with the hardware or software side of things, has been known lol

any other additions to your side of things all depends on what style you want to do/play and budget you want to set aside for this project

best of luck for the future

Thanks,

I agree I need to have a back up plan regarding other equipment in case of a software/hardware problem.

Just a quick couple of points:

What are the minimum specifications for a laptop to run Virtual DJ effectively? Any recommendations?

Also any recommendations for a mixer? For example would the DXM 01USB Mixer Numark DXM01usb be suitable enough. I'm not after that many exciting effects etc...
