Well...here it is...the new bad boy on the block is going on sale this coming June. 2 models, MEP-7000 (controller head and dual cd player drive unit - List price $2299 and the SEP-C1 (same controller head minus the cd player unit $1199). So if you want an all-in-one, your machine is the MEP-7000.
Check out the pics half way down. Also, a member has posted some pics of NAMM 2008 showing this controller. The pics he's posted are on page 5 after you click his link.
I don't think i'll be buying that Denon HC-4500 after all, but we'll have to wait till June to get the Pioneer.
Summer of 2008 is gonna rock :p
Hopefull we get some videos on youtube soon.

The Denon 5500 has the same features, plus the option of a CD player or hard drive. For the price you can get 2, 4 players total, for lees than the price of the pioneer. I like the pioneer but I dont want to have to wait untill june.

I too have been reading all the new spec's on the controllers shown at the NAMM show. The pioneer looks great, but as stated, you could buy the Denon HC-4500 and optional CD add on draws for 1/2 the price. The Pioneer plays Karaoke CD+G discs, I'm not sure if the Denon will. I read the Pioneer specs, and no where does it say that the CD Decks can play DVD discs. If it does, it WILL be an all in one solution (MP3, DVD, CD+G, CD, CDR).
Other than being able to play CD+G discs, the only other advantage the Pioneer seems to have over the Denon unit is the Jog wheels look to be a little lkarger than the Denon's.
The dust has not settled yet as these new controllers need to hit the market and we need to see how well they work with VDJ. If Denon will support VDJ by giving us Native support, then in my opinion, the HC-4500 will be the best rack mount controller on the market for the price. The Pioneer will come in second only because of the high price. We also need to see if it has native support for VDJ.
If you want an external controller, than the New Hercules or new Vestax VCI-300 seem to be the most promising. The Numark N7 looks nice too, but it's huge and I try to keep my system as portable and compact as possible.

The Pioneer could play cd+g discs and play through the video output. The video output could also show a copy of the internal screen, for better reading. The Pioneer plays also data dvds containing mp3, wav or Aac files, for what I have read no video dvds. I like the screen of the Pioneer and looking at the pics the jog wheel seem to be a little larger, but the pitch slider seems shorter.
THe Denon is already available, the Pioneer will probably come during summer. With all those new controllers chosing become quite hard.
Ewout
