I would like to know what types of burner programs people use to make there CD's?
I can get the mix to play constant but problem is for e.g if i want to start my CD from track 5 i have to fast forward all the way through. But if i split the tracks before burning i get a pause between each of them. ( kind of defeats the object of mixing )
So any ideas how i can get track selection with no pauses through normal play.

All of the following programs allow you to place track markers, and change the pause time from 2 seconds to 0 seconds. CD Artiech, Wavelab, Sampluitude, these programs are hi-end and very expensive. You least expensive option is going to be Nero. I know earlier versions (Version 6) allowed you to do the same, I have not tried it in the newer versions.

I posted a series i wrote on my website called "The Quintessential Mixtape" which is a 4 part series on making demo cds. Issues 3 and 4 (if i remember correctly) cover how to use wavelab to cut your full length mix into parts and then create a Nero Image with the tracks, names and everything into a single file that you just double click and burn everytime you want to make a copy.

Adobe Audition also does this.. record the mix as a single wave file, then go into the file and place your track markers at the appropriate mix points.. once you are happy with the track placements, you can then burn directly to cd from there and it will burn all the tracks with no gaps.. You can even add CD-TEXT to the CD as well

I have been using Nero for a number of years now, currently on version 8. I make a number of mix cd's and there is a setting that allows you to eliminate the pauses between the tracks. When played in normal mode the tracks blend seamlessly and it allows you to access any track.
