Well, for those who know me, they also know that video is my thing, but here's one that has now completely stumped me. I have a music video, it's in xvid avi format. It plays in VirtualDJ PERFECTLY, it plays in the DivX player, PERFECTLY. If I open it in mediaplayer there's no video and the speed of the audio is up & down, all over the place, if i try & put it into tmpgenc express 4 to convert it to another format it shows a green screen with just mush and static and screeches as audio. This has really got me stumped, I have divx AND xvid codecs installed, I've NEVER had a problem before playing divx or xvids. Ran the file through gspot and it says codec/s are installed. This has got me stumped
Anyone got any ideas?

definately sounds like a codec problem, i normally use software from www.avsmedia.com for converting files, if you have'nt tried it might be worth a shot and its on freeware trial so you have nothing to lose, here's part of the sales pitch from there site, it will convert from and to :-
AVI (DivX, XviD, etc.), DV AVI, MP4 (inc. Sony PSP and Apple iPod), WMV, 3GP, 3G2, QuickTime (MOV, QT), SWF, DVD, VOB, VRO,MPG, MPEG 1,2,4, DAT, VCD, SVCD, ASF, ASX, MJPEG, H.263, H.264, Real Video (RM, RMVB), DVR-MS, MKV, OGM, FLV.
here's a link directly to it http://avsmedia.com/VideoTools/index.aspx
hope it helps

I've had a few misbehaving divx files, i tend to run them through convertXtoDVD (used to be called divxtodvd) which returns a dvd compliant MPEG-2 VOB.
http://www.vso-software.fr/products/convert_x_to_dvd/
It also works to convert things like MKV files to VOB

Well, I've tried Sony Vegas and pinnacle, both of them spew it back out, divx player plays it, vdj plays it, it's REALLY strange.

Sounds odd. The problem is normally the other way round- where vdj can't play something. So At least this is a nice change! lol.
