I buy the largest one on the market, and put it in a case that has 2 fans and standard 3 wire connection. I do not use any case with those adaptors. I use this. You can see them in my blog.

I use the WD pocket drives (The Best!). This does not use a adapter, it runs off USB power.

I am using 3 Western Digital Pass Port HDs. I used them in Clubs, privates events and many gigs. No problems at all. One is a 120 gig and two of them are 160 gigs

get a tera, thats 1000 gigs, If you are transfering music to hard drive make sure if your in canada to get a avla digital liccense ... They allow you one hard drive with no size restrictions.. so larger is better , a 1000 gig cost me 265$ canadian.. and works like a charm... it hads everything on it and massive space for more..

I use 3 Maxtor one touch triple each 500 gb with firwire 800

regardless of which hard drive you get, you'll be fine.

virtualdj creates it's own xml file and stores it in your external hard drive so it can easily access any music file you need, so speed isn't that big a deal.

it is suggested that you get a one terabyte hard drive 1TB = 1,000GB = 1,000,000MB

here is a list of differences i think you want to consider

1. durability: how much shock can the unit absorb?
2. static: make sure it does not require a 3 port power supply else you might get static.
3. loud engine: not that it matters while you play music. but perhaps when someone is giving a speech.
4. connection type: usb2 is faster than firewire.
5. ?? can't think of any thing else.

The case I showed you, comes in several configurations. You can use IDE or SATA, and you have all protocols covered. USB, Fire-wire, SATA, or combinations of the above.

Do you need one? why not just update your hard drive in your machine, I have a 320gb hd in my laptop
