Hello everyone, I've being a VJ for a little time now; while I worked my way around getting my VDJ setup to work (Flawless I may add), now I need some suggestions on what can I do to get my sound system to work at it's best:
I have:
- Computer w/VDJ on it (obviosly) <- Custom Built by myself
- Numark Mixer (Cheap one)
- Amplifier (2500 Watt)
- 4 Cerwin Vega Intense int150
I was thinking on getting a crossover, maybe another amplifier. This is where I need your input, I don't know how exactly what do I need to make my setup sound good, not just good, great. The twist here it's that I have a gig on 4/19/2008 and if I need to get something, I need to order it right away.
ANY SUGGESTIONS WILL HELP

I would wait until after the gig to start upgrading being that it's only 5 days away. No sense in complicating your setup with untested equipment in the field;^]

I think you are right, I probably need to wait until after the gig. But how would you upgrade it anyway? What would you get to make it better? (For future reference)

Not really too sure about what to get, though a crossover is always good to have. Unfortunatly my setup is still kinda second rate. However, you probably should get a better mixer if you can afford it. Vestax has some really nice looking ones with great reviews as always;^]

Mine it’s not that 1st rate either. It's just that I honestly don't know the technicalities of sound configurations. I may be kind of good building computers (sorry for the humbleness) but when it comes to sound setup... not so good. And for being a DJ, you need to have something that sounds decent (which I think I have), but I want to make it sound better.

Man I will tell you I added a BBE Sonic Maximizer to my cheap ass setup they gave me at the bar. I have the i482. All I can say is the sound is sooo much better with a ton more bass than it had before. You hook this thing up after your mixer and before your amp. Very easy to set up and make sound great.

Hey, that's the kind of suggestions that I am looking for

I have a Rane MP 24 mixer, a DBX compressor limiter, a DOD equalizer, and a BBE 362 SW, even though I have a DBX Drive-rack I bought to replace all this, still in a box in the garage. I got it on eBay at least 6 months ago, but have not had a chance to play with it yet. I don't believe in using my clients as beta testers, so one of these days, I will switch over. The one compliment I get over and over again, is how great my system sounds. Yet another reason I have not been too in a rush to change things.
Oh, the BBE unit does a great job at brightening the sound up, but it is just a part of the equation for me.

Depending on your budget, DBX PA DRIVERACK is by far the best investment you can make for sound management. Some people dissagree but I would add a sonic Maximizer to your rack as well.
You may want to add subs and another amp.
My system has a QSC PLX 3200 amp Drives low end, QSC PLX 3002 amp, Drives highs, DBX Driverack, Sonic Maxmizer, 4 Yamaha 115v's, 4 Custom made Dub 18 bass bins loaded with Eminence Sigma pro drivers.
Hope this helps
