hi
this is what i have
equipment
1x DJM800
2x CDJ1000MK3
1x herc MK2
2x laptops
2x time code cds
when all set up with time code it works ok but when i turn time code off and put audio cds the herc or something can not handle the sound and it cuts out
i dont mind getting rid of the herc and buying a new sound card
i think i have 2 options
1x the long way with lots of cables and a switch type box to switch to herc and switch to bybass it
2x buy a new sound card that will work
please any help

Have you thought off Looking Here. It has a bypass switch/Knod you turn in order to play "normal" vinyl or CD. It would work with VirtualDJ.
Also a License copy of VirtualDJ would help.

also with the M Audio Conectiv i would not need the herc

If you want a new soundcard to do it, buy something like Virtual Vinyl wchich has bypass outputs.
If you want the best cheap sollution use splitter cables, no need for a bypass box when splitters work perfectly fine & costs under $10 where I live;^]

not to sound stupid but is the M Audio Conectiv a sound card so i would not need the herc

Mines not a fixed setup either, splitter cables don't infringe on mobility at all. However, the mk2 & the rmx aren't exactly the best sound cards for timecodes, so a new sound card could be a wise investment;^]

Yep, you can do away with your herc, and use the M Audio Conectiv as your soundcard, it has the inputs and outputs you need for timecode.

You could always go with virtual vinyl package, it has soundcard with bypass outs (yes, with 4 in 4 out), timecodes and the pro software. Haven't heard enough about the m audio to say much about that one;^]

I would think the virtual vinyl soundcard would have much fewer problems as it is tailor designed for VDJ, seems to be alot happy users with it. Alot of performance issues though depends on your computer specs;^]

VIRTUALVINYL will this let me swap from time code to normal cd and work with out doing any unplugging
geposted Mon 19 May 08 @ 12:19 pm
Yes, I opt for the splitters for that because I've already got a good card for timecodes on my desktop (delta 1010lt), but it's to my understanding that the bypass ports in the rear of the VV card go straight to your mixer, so you'll use a total of four mixer channels, two for regular cds and two for timecodes. The same as with splitters but without splitters;^]

2 cd decks go in to VV --- 4 phonos (2 left and 2 right) then from the box 2 time code come out to mixer and 2 come from cdjs them self and go to mixer
