hehe.. sure ;)
To map it manually do this :
- Enable MIDI on the Denon
- Enable General MIDI in VDJ controller tab (in VDJ settings)
- Go to keyboard shortcuts, and choose a function to map, and option to be used
- Press the button/knob on the Denon to assosiate with that
- Save
Repeat above, until you mapped out what you want
There will probably be other mappers too, made real soon from users, just as the Denon DN-HC4500 has it already ( http://www.virtualdj.com/addons/view.html?type=tool&page=1 )
Leds and display wont work (reading VDJ info, such as BPM) before the native built in support comes though ;)
btw, dont think I've ever said VDJ supported that Denon controller... but it will anyways;)
Maybe you read Denon saying it here:
http://www.denondjforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=9692

geposted Sat 24 May 08 @ 8:26 pm
Hey Norway, i know you re thinking to yourself that is simplest way to put it, but I am asking, can you put it any simpler for folks like myself who isn't that computer savy..?

Did you map it up yet Swizzle ?
If not, let me know, and I'll try get the Denon midi chart, and help you ;)
If you wanna try yourself, it fairly simple
Each button, knob and so on (that are midi), on your Denon deck, sends a midi code.
This code gets picked up by VDJ.
You do need to potentially install drivers from Denon, first. If so, you should have a program install CD.
When ready, all you need to do is this:'
1) Enable general midi controller, in VDJ controller option
2) In Keyboard shortcuts option, select a feature you want to map..
Say for example "PLAY". Locate that feature, and choose deck 1 and deck 2 according to what Denon controller you map (Guessing you have two).
3) When "shortcut" (feature to map) is choosen in VDJ, press the button to map it to. Denon will then send a signal to your PC, that VDJ gets.
4) continue to map... 1) - 3)
When done, save it :)

I'll try first see if you can do it yourself, as thats better... then you can tweak and change for own likings ;)
If you cant do it, I'll try make the XML mapper for you, but going to London for rest of week :(
Ok, back to mappings..
1) FIRST and most importantly install any midi driver etc that Denon might have supplied with the units. And set the Denons in midi mode.. Probably is such a switch button or something
2) Then ACTIVATE Genral Midi in VDJ (see picture)
3) at SAME screen choose the config part there (at General Midi), and choose function you want to map at the list, then choose CHANGE.
4) At the change dialogue page, press the button on Denon that you want to map it to, and Denon will send the signal to VDJ, and new midi value will show...
Hope that made a bit of sense :)

I think Rune, someone need's to write a guide (Simon...hehe) on how to Map out a midi device, I've just had a quick look and I can't found anything. It would be good to have a sticky on this.
Maybe you can do one when you get back from my Captial City. I Know you're never busy and you have all that time on your hands....lol ;)
