do any of you who own them use them at club/bar/mobile dj gigs?
if so, how do they perform for you, reliability and such, and are you using them with tccd or as a controller?
i would like to know your personal experiences with them, pros and cons.

i bought a pair and i do like them. i get to play with them for 14 days, and if i decide, i can take them back for an exchange.
i don't have a problem with the size, platter, or scratching on these. i just want to know if these are good reliable decks.

thanks for any response

Hello, for me it's the best controller for vdj, it's easy for mapping and its work very good with vdj.

I use them with virtual dj. No problems, they seem very reliable. You can switch to the CD and USB modes without the PC interface disconnecting. It's also nice to have a load of songs on a USB memory stick attached incase VDJ crashes. This has happened a couple of times and i was able to reboot the pc while playing the CDJs. Once the PC was ready, i just switched back to PC mode on the decks. Also 5.1 seems to have native suppport altho i havnt had a chance to try that out yet.

I got a pair of CDJ-400 and got VirtualDJ 5.1
Big news to 5.07 is that all functions are natively supported and that the displays of the CDJ-400 now display the relevant information as time, title, pitch, etc.

But I also found some bugs / misfits:
- Buttons are not mappable any more (in CDJ-400-mode, in general midi it remains possible as known, but general midi doesn't support the displays): I would be happy to map some special functions (SYNC for example) to not-so-often-needed buttons on my CDJ-400.
Chaning the CUE-behavior (my favorite is CUE => Back to last CUE) is also not possible.
The mapping is not changeable.
- Display: The pitch is not alsways showing correctly, sometimes displaying weird symbols
- Display: Title is not moving. Only the first letters are displayed (enough for working, but it would be nice)

I hope the VDJ guys take a second look at the CDJ-400 support.

hey would love to hear some more follow ups on the CDJ-400 ... i have been planning on them for quite a while.... especially since i heard they would be natively supported in 5.1 and this has happened. Reallly would love to know how much the differ from tccds etc. since that is what i have been using successfully for quite a while now

In my country obtaining a pair at approximately 600US a piece basically will take at least 4 months of my salary approximately JA$100,000
so reviews would really make me more comfortable with my purchase.. and there is no chance to pretest either

Hey There...Now i´ve got it working with my own Midimapping WITH the Native support :-)

You can make your own mapping at the same time with the Native Remote control plugin..maby i should make a list that i have done and make it downloadable on external tool ?

Ex. Cue points are on Effectknobs Cue1=Bubble, Cue2=Trans, Cue 4=Wah
Sync= Hold
Loop= Realtime Cue In
Loop Beats=Beat Loop
Select Deck 1 or 2=Memory/Delete knob
Skip 4beats Forwards=Track Search Forward
Skip 8beats Backwards=Track Search Backwards

/Freppa

Keep the comments coming on the 400's - I am heavily considering them as well, and would love to hear all there is on them. Love the fact that there's native support and that 5.1 is out.

Thanks!

Hey guys on the cdj 400 when you hook up an external hard drive on one deck is it possible to select the songs on both decks?

If you want to map the buttons in "CDJ mode" as you call it, meaning "natively supported" in VDJ, and not by some MIDI mapper, where you can get relevant info into the CDJ displays, you need to make a full blood mapper...

This is done by using the SDK
http://www.virtualdj.com/developers/

From that, anyone knowing a bit of C++ can either make a new such mapper, or a mappable mapper, such as Cel have made for the Hercules Concole. His mapper can be customized for functions, yet will flash up leds and so on...

So its possible, but a bit more work :)

You can nNot select songs from a Hdd that is connected on one cdj on the other one.
But i use my External Hdd right into my laptop so i can select musik for both Cdjs..

I'll wait awhile i need to learn what this mapping thing is all about first it seems like its getting a little to technical lol.

Hello again..
I hope that i explained it right..My Map is only an extension for midicontrol with the nativesupport :-)

hey guys continue the discussion...thinking of making the switch too, but am into video and scratching. how does that work out on the cdj400s?

I can't tell about video, but scratching works well on the CDJ-400. Of course it's no comparison to the CDJ-800/1000, their platters got a much better quality - but it works!

Back to the mappings:
Guess I don't have enough time to read into and make a full blood mapper, but I got one question in my mind which I didn't test yet:
What happens if you activate native CDJ-400 support and general midi at the same time? Would any setting made in general midi take priority of the mapping of the CDJ-400. Let's say, if you map ONLY one button in general midi, which is also mapped in the CDJ-400-setting - what would happen? Would VDJ try to execute both mappings at the same time or has one setting priority over the other?
If it's possible to give general midi priority, it would be the easiest thing in the world to make a custom setting...

Hi Wolpaxx..
I have treid the native and the general midi at the same time and the buttons that are Native midi mapped is not working at the same time..

But i have made a general midimapp with seperate functions that works with the Nativemapp..it works perfect!

Hi freppa,
please explain that to me! If all buttons are natively mapped (aren't they?!), how could you create seperate functions?
Maybe you could post you midi-mapping?

I want to use the cdj 400's with cue has anybody tried them with time codes if so please tell me how accurate they are with time coded disc i will be using the maya 44 sound card

Hello anyone there please keep the info coming!!!

Hi again.

All buttons are Not mapped in the Native configuration = The effect buttons are one of them, the Track Search buttons are another one and there is some others that i have done some other things with :-)

I Have already send my map to Vdj as an External Tool ?
