Was 5.1 designed and and tested on Vista or XP. The reason i ask is that my Vista 20inch screen laptop, 2x 250gb hard drives, 4gb mem, nividia Geforce 8600m GT etc is standing by to go out in the field and now 5.1 is ready, I am wondering if there is a need to turn any services off as we had to for previous versions. This being the case what services did you tun off.

IMHO, tweaking your machine is a personal thing. I run my primary DJ laptop on Vista and whilst I have quite a few unneeded services disabled (mainly network related) I run with wireless and bluetooth enabled for example with no issues. If your machine is up-to-spec then I'd say disable anything you're not ever going to use, but there is no need to go crazy...

I tested on both XP (in my office) and vista (on my work laptop) I had no problems with either. However I did way back when I bought the laptop uninstalled and disabled all the stuff that I don't use.

We always test on different OS: Windows XP pro (+ SP1,SP2,SP3) and Vista ultimate (+SP1)
