Topic: 5.1 search question

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

I still use version 4.3 for my gigs and one thig I do is make lots of playlists .. for different genres and styles .. or even my hot list of songs I want to push .. then I search withing the playlists for songs / artists.

I do this for a few reasons ... say I have several copy's of "beat it" I know the one in my playlist is a good copy, also the one in my playlist has the cue points set ... and if its a long gig .. I can tell if I played the song 6 hrs an a bunch of drinks ago ;)

In 5.1 when I bring up a playlist and attempt to search withing it .. it goes to the global database instead .. so instead of bringing up the copy of "beat it" I like to play .. it will bring every copy of the song.

So my question is .. can I change the way 5.1 searches ?

I'm testing out version 5.1 and I intend to upgrade all my rigs to it & start using it live .. once I learn it better an work some differences out ... so far I really like 5.1 ... there are just going to be some growing pains with it.

I think your situation can easily be solved by taking advantage of the version 5 features.

1. There is a genre tree as part of version 5 that you could leverage. With the genre field you can store multiple genre in the field separated by using a semi colon. You can then have same track as part of multiple genre lists.

2. Use the comment field more. Put a comment in for those songs that are the good copy. Which I don't understand why you keep the other ones if they are not good as well. But if you have the comment there you will know it is the good one and just show the comment column so you can see it. Also, another neat trick is put something like ($) or (%) as part of the Title to make it different from the rest.

3. Searching in version 5 - Global search is always happening. So if you are in a list and you search for a file, if the file exists in that list then you will see it appear above a line that separates the other tracks that match your search string. This is where the the special characters in the title or the comment info would help you identify the good ones for you.
