Hi, this is a great forum.
OK, my setup is hercules MK2 and external mixer DJM-400. They work great! btw I play mostly House, Tech, so no scratching.
My question is that now Im looking at several CDJ's to buy but can't really decide.
What I'm looking for is actually to replace the play, cue, and pitch slider on the MK2 so that I could learn to mix the 'right way'
because the buttons on the MK2 (play, que, no pitch slider) feels fake and not really 'on beat' what i meant it has a bad response (some times it works some times not, need a consistent buttons) and to beatmatch (or cueing) i think these 3 buttons are the most important one. I looked also at SL-1200 series but putted down my thoughts because cueing would be a different story (would take any suggestion for TT's).
So I was looking at the CDJ-400 thinking about using it either with TCCD or a controller, but the thing is the effect wouldn't work with TCCD so some what it is useless for me at this point (is it true?). If I use it as a controller, it would not worth the money €600 (rough) just for play, cue, and pitch slider (I know that you can map the other buttons, but its useless to buy the CDJ, why not other MIDI controller). So I took a glance at CDJ-200 which is cheaper and if I use it with TCCD, I could get the cue, play, and pitch slider working (yes? no?), but if I got a good suggestion at CDJ-400, it is a good investment isn't it? (future wise) btw, Im just looking for a 1 TT/CDJ setup.
Sorry for the blabbering and my bad english, hope anyone get my point here. I want to learn a basic and good way to mix and beatmatch so that I could play anywhere, either with VDJ or not. For my point of view of a player the only important point are cue, play, and pitch slider (for the thousand time i point these out). So correct me if im wrong.
Thx.

Since you already have the mixer, I would probably suggest the Denon 1200 or Pioneer CDJ-400.
I own a Denon HC4500 with the BU4500 CD Bay and I'm very happy with it. I do mobile work, so for me it's the perfect combination.
Good luck and welcome to the forum !!!

for your needs i would suggest this.... numark icdx.
works great as a controller, good platter for pitch bend, not so much for scratching so i think this is perfect

When you use Cd players like the regular cdjs with time codes, the pitch works, cues etc. You cue your music on the laptop by pressing the key board short cuts. When you speed up your song on the cdj's, it would speed up on virtual dj. You Buy a Midi cd player if you like to assign the functions to work by pressing buttons on the CDJ 400. You can do all this on the laptop aswell. I like using the Cdj 1000mk3 with time codes and it works nice. I preffer it over my Denon HC4500 anytime. I like the bigger job wheels for better feel. The CDj 400 wheels are small for me. If you like more feel of job wheels near the turntables, you buy the Cdj 800s because they are more cheaper. The first Pioneer CDJ 800's work with virtual dj and now they have the 800mk2 which work good also. If you dont mind smaller job wheels and what to be able to assign the functions to work by pushing buttons on the CDj 400, then buy this one. Midi, no midi both work good. Timecodes to control virtual dj works excellent.

Hey thx for the reply,
I think I have found a bit of a solution for my problem. So yesterday I found out that I have everything that I need in my hands right now. I can assign the MK2 slider as a pitch slider and set it at around 8% or 10%, and I use the spacebar as the shortcut to play and use the jogwheel on the MK2 to speeding up/slowing down. So I guess I have everything I need to learn the basic of beatmatching, I guess... so any comments?
I'm thinking after I got the beatmathing, pitch riding (which is very difficult than what I saw on youtube), phrase matching (which is kinda easy because you can see the diagram on VDJ) then I think I will invest on CDJ, probably thinking about buying effects like EFX-500 for a start, but for now, I think I got the basic for DJing.
