Topic: HP tx#### tablets w- VDJ?

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

Hey everyone-

Contemplating my next move for a versatile laptop/tablet.

After reading good reviews from users on DJChat about the HP tx2010, I've been keeping my eye on the tx2510-- the next model up.
Has anyone used VDJ with any of the HP tablet series with VirtualDJ? The 2500 series look to have the new AMD Puma platform, which includes an upgraded processor and ATI HD3200 video card.

I'm looking to purchase the docking station, mount it in a coffin and run the laptop suspended.

Thoughts, suggestions?

sounds cool...i'm sure it will work fine.....if your fingers are big you might have problem accessing some features...

Haha, nice. I weigh a buck thirty-five, fingers should be just fine :)

Have you personally used one?

I recommend you go to a store that carries them and see if they will let you test vdj on it while there (off a thumb drive). Laptops are hit and miss. Unless you know someone with that exact same model that uses vdj w no problems, then my advice is to test first. It will save you a lot of headaches in returning it and paying shipping back and/or restocking fees.

I can't wait for Microsoft Surface to come out. Using that with VDJ is going to be the tits.

KillaBee-

Thanks for the advice, I'm going to hit CircuitCity this weekend and attempt to play around :)

I'll let you know how things turn out!

I've trialed VDJ on an HP tablet around about April. Never really thought it worked that well as you really needed the pen/stick thing to use the screen as these tablet laptops all seem to have small screens. Dell has a Tablet but is was just short of £2000 (UK) so too expensive for me.

I think the HP TouchSmart http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/uk/en/ho/WF05a/35123-35527-39847-39847-39847-12939752.html has the required technonolgy (I tested it as well) but it's quite heavy to carry around although it is all in one. The large screen makes it much easier to use your fingers instead of the mouse.

Things to consider.

How do you right click?
How close can the screen be to you (streching for anything more than an hour gets painful)
How portable a solution do you require.

Let us know how you get on and watch for the laptops being in those Plastic security holders as it took me a while to get a few out of those for testing

I've had the HP TX 2010US out in the field at the club I play urban at for 2 months now. It's functions are precise and smooth.

Using the digitizer pen can be a real aid. Also the mouse pad that is built in, has a scroll position to allow for multiple operation functions, in other words I'm not just touching the screen for all functions. I even use keyboard shortcuts to aid in using this system.

The screen is small and it's location is important to read and operate.

I took a thumb drive into Circuit City. As I mentioned at Chat the salesman told me I could not install software and "tinker" with the display like that. Then he said he'd be "over there" for a while if I had any questions (wink wink). So don't go in there when it's busy and try this ...

I loaded VDJ off a thumb drive into the laptop and even had two VOB videos on the drive to play. It ran everything amazingly well (with no tweaking) and I fell in love with this versitle little "lightweight" system.

I'm now installing it into a rack setup (Gator light weight 8 X 6) with two 1tb drives and several other key items including my 1U mixer. This will be the entire new show ... I consider it very a "transportable" and reliable video show.

BTW you can scratch with the touchscreen, and operate all the features with a swipe, or press of the fingertip. You do need to calibrate the screen for your desired finger and angle of approach through a simple set up operation first to insure acurate use...

This laptop has a built in presentation mode that switches many items off, and some on automatically everytime you enter the "presentation" mode. This same screen allows for display autoconnect, wireless and bluetooth swicth off and makes setting up easy!

Don't hold your breath, it will be a royal flop. I don't think it's aimed at the average consumer. This is more for businesses & "rich" consumer.
