Hey everyone,
I need some help. I've always run my system with a gigaport Ag now its not a bad sound card But.....we all know it has its downfalls with quality of sound left to right and and volume drop off. Call me a late bloomer but i just heard about the audio 8 DJ sound card, does anyone have it and is it true what is said about it....it gives you the sound quality sound as if you were playing Cd's? and no drop off in sound from left to right or right to left. last Q.....is there a BEST sound card that does give you sound like your playing from a CD player and what is it.

Thanks,
Ralph

Have you looked at a Virtual Vinyl package it was designed solely for this purpose to give a high quality sound with normal records or cds and time code performance.
You can also use the built in bypass functions with your cd players if you want so you can still play out if the card is disconnected from your computer.
Kind Regards

Ok let me ask another way, what external soundcards are people using, I use a gigaport ag, and not thrilled with it. is there anything out there that will give me cd quailty sound.

We have four different sound cards with the Audio 8 DJ being the most recent purchase. We rip our Promoonly CD's at 320 kbps .
I can't say the quality is exactly the same as a CD if you were listening to it through high end headphones but in a club setting it's absolutely CD quality.

The price tag for the Audio 8 is painful. :^(

i have had the ag gigaport for servral months with no drop out in sound so maybe your card is defective.

For $199 the M-Audio Fast Track Pro works great. I don't see a need for anything more expensive.

I was looking to get the fast track pro as well but i was told that the inputs are mono if using 1 channel for 1 player and the 2ed channel for the secound player...

If it works can you explane the set up..

Thanks,

My first 2 Gigaport AGs were defective, but I knew that as soon as I tested it. The third was the charm. Works and sounds great to me.

I already have VDJ software and it works fine with my Vista 32 bit software and Soundblaster soundcard. However, I would like to add the Virtual Vinyl interface and control/timecoded vinyl wihtout having to pay for the software again.

Can anyone suggest how to obtain just the VV interface at a reasonable cost or suggest an equal interface?

I've always used a Maya-44, now a Audio 8 DJ. Both cards do their job fine, but the sound quality imcrease of the Audio 8 DJ is certainly worth it's money. On 8kW+ sets the quality difference is downright mindblowing.

The VV interface is not available by itself, at the moment. I have heard talk about that, but not yet. I have heard nothing but good things about the Audio 8 interface which can be found here.

I always drool when i see that image....

Then i realise it's sitting here right next to my keyboard. And i usually drool some more when seeing that... Sorry, can't help myself.

Just wash your hands.

I HAVE WASHED MY HANDS 2 MONTHS AGO thank you.

I AM a clean boy.

The Audio 8 dj interface is readily available for $400 and from reviews of the VV interface, much better. So the Audio 8 dj used for Traktor seems like a safe bet for use with VDJ and Vista 32.

How about Stanton's Final Scratch interface for $275? They have no mention of compatibility with Vista 32 on their website. Does anyone know if the Final Scratch interface with work as well as Audio 8 dj with VDJ and Vista 32?

with no disrespect to Simon from Numark...

don't buy the Virtual Vinyl package just for the soundcard. I did and I was disappointed.

I have two laptops.

One is a MAC book Pro 17"

One is a high end Toshiba gaming laptop. (Vista 32bit)

On both platforms the virtual vinyl soundcard was full of problems. It would sometimes take me 20 minutes just to get going. This is even at my home studio where nothing new has been added or subtracted... just turned off the computer and went to turn it on to play... I would have to un-plug and plug in the usb connection over and over till it got a full signal from the timecode vinyls. How exactly is that acceptable when showing up to a gig and setting up at a club.... "hold on... give me a minute... or 20"

Simon e-mailed me some drivers which didn't fix this issue.

I since bought the NI Audio 8 and am more than pleased. I found it on-line at www.audiomidi.com for the cheapest price of $349.00.
It was working pretty much out of the box! Just install drivers and that's it! AND it has midi on the soundcard so you can have it ready to hook up to midi mixers like the Nuo 4 or Pioneer DJM-800 easily! All in one soundcard and midi!!

sorry if it sounds like an infomercial!

BUT THE SOUNDCARD IS TOTALLY RECOMMENDED!!!

OK......help me out here. I was going to buy the gigaport AG. I know if I hook my usb cable to it, I can select the output channels the sound will come out of. Does the audio 8 DJ work the same way? Do I just plug in the USB cable from my laptop to the audio 8 DJ unit and then select the output channels I want to use? Does the sound pass from the laptop to the audio 8 DJ via the USB cable or am I missing something?

Thanks
