What do you do if your pc goes bad? What have you done with the ones that have problems? Are you basically out of luck when that happens?

No you are rarely just "out of luck." Normally any issue can be fixed. It can be anything from re-installing a driver to replacing your motherboard. Normally something catastrophic would need to happen for you to have to replace you're entire computer.
The best tool for someone to have that is not very familiar with troubleshooting PC problems is another computer that works with an internet connection. Chances are you can find someone else having the same or similar problem you're having and possibly the solution to fix it.

Thank....VDJ radio...chat..go! party time Lol.

I've used Vista for a year now and its running VDJ without problems. I had my first crash in 9 months last friday, but that was because i was fiddling with Open Office Math trying to trim a Promo Only song list I downloaded.

Vista does a better job searching large amounts of files than XP does. Its a little bit flawed but you can work out 99% of the bugs by removing all files from your index that you dont use for music.

If you've been around computers for a while, its the same story every time a new OS comes out. People resist changing to it, the attitude goes all the way back to Win 3.1. Course 95 was the largest and most painful step of all.

All Vista issues that i've heard of are minor. I personally dont consider myself to have any. If you plan to use it, make sure you run a little bit stronger of a processer than you would have with XP. I run a 2.66 Core 2 Duo, its been plenty. The only time I encounter issues is when i'm ripping DVD's while playing music and searching the file index. Its really a problem with the hard drive being overloaded, and my fault for throwing a DVD rip process on there at the same time.

The main problem I have with Vista is how much of a resource hog it is.

clind, what are some good brand motherboards? Which would you suggest for virtual dj? I will be buying my parts from http://microcenter.com/index.html since its a store near by.

If I were you I would get an Asus motherboard. There are a few good motherboard manufacturers out there but Asus seems to be the most consistent with quality.

how bout MSI?

MSI should be fine.
