I guess no one has done this. I may have to be the experiment.

it would be cool to a point...like if you did not have turntables if the response was fast enough...alot of issues with it but who knows maybe it could work,....

do it do it do it.

im a touchscreen ambassador, and i can tell you that its very well used.

look at it like its a new type of controller, that you can change the look of.

granted, you cannot press more than one button at any one time, but you can move your finger accross the screen quicker than moving the mouse!

If you do a search on VirtualDJ forum for touch screen, there are plenty of topics on this, and even some videos of come touch screens in actrion.

Let us know your experience, but mine has been great. the best add-on ive got for my dj system.

thanks for the input, tell me about your application if you don't mind, mark.

thanks again.

Hey, for those that are using them.... a couple of questions if you wouldnt mind....

a) make and model of your monitor + price

b) how do you get the pop down keyboard?

Thanks,

Dave.

I too am wondering that one.

[size=18]OK you can stop wondering...
start drooling (cause it is amazing)...
and start saving (cause you will need a ton of cash $3000+)

It's called ProDJpc and it is VDJ with a customized skin

Want more than one screen? How's a threesome sound to you?

Break that all down, is the Prodjpc worth $3000 or more, nope. You could build it yourself a hell of alot cheaper. The only thing I am having problems with is the actual mount for the touchscreen.

I bought a SKB case with a hinged rack on top.
I modified my computer case (cut it in half) and mounted this into this case. Still workin on it as it has no lid and the fans still need installed.
Specs:
M2NPv-VM Micro ATX MOBO
AMD 3.0 Dual core
ATI HD 4850 512mb DDR3 vid card
2 SATA drives (300 gb OS and Programs, and 1Tb Vids and Music)
Gvision 17" Touchscreen (Had to RMA due to losing usb connection)

So Here I sit waitin for this monitor so I can mount it to the top of the case. I had issues and I think they were due to the fact that the monitor was mounted to a sheet of steel on the top of the case. I bought a piece of plexiglass from Home Depot and will be mounting the monitor to that. I have looked into having a rack mount built for my touchscreen, but they wanted like $500 to build it for me as they would have to machine it.
If and when I get this all working, I will take pics.

If anyone has done anything like this please let me know via PM with any suggestions and/or comments.

1 more question, would a serial cable be better than the usb connection?? I can get a PCI-E Serial card and run the serial cable to the monitor instead of using the USB. Let me know.

you're looking at $3135.47 (€ 2727.86) for the ProDJpc AllN1 Audio Addition
and $3960.67 (€ 3445.78) for the ProDJpc AllN1 Video Addition

It's a great idea but too expensive

most touch screens employ a simple mouse driver. so serial cable is same as usb. The mouse doesnt need high bandwitdh to send over the lposition of the cursor. USB is preferred if possible as serial ports are getting harder to find.

I have had 3 tablet pc's and they all worked fine with virtual DJ. However, I have never used them profesionally, just played around with them. I NEED REAL SLIDERS and BUTTONS. If you are going to get a tablet pc or touch screen, Just make sure to get one that does not require a PEN (two types resistive vs capacitive).

OH, and NONE OF THESE SCREENS ARE MULTI-TOUCH. Mouse can only be in one location at a time.

Yeah mine doesnt require a pen, this is a 17" LCD Touchscreen monitor.
The reason I am gonna try the serial cable is I think there was some sort of interference that caused this monitor to malfunction.
This is a homemade build not a lappy. When it did work it was awesome even scratching.

I thought about adding one of those USB ones on my LT but honestly I usually dont click on my LT fo anything more than to clone on the turntablist skin....

I do run a DAC 3 for everything else I need.... Usually just for effects and thats about it...

I use a Oddysey type LT stand, not very ergonomic having to reach up all the time... The 3k one looks tite but I have better things to waste my money on...

Oh yea, I used to work a touch screen register and your wrist and elbows take a beating!!! Like carpal tunner but times ten...

Id hate to think about doing a long gig like this past sat... Got there at 2 pm, played from 4 to 12, left at 3 am after loading up!!! My legs hurt but my arms were aight...

I use a touch screen for VDJ and wouldn't look back now!!!

Before i bought the OODJ (www.oodj.co.uk) i used to use just a normal shuttle system with 15" touch screen connected via it's serial port and it does make life easier... i also have a dac 3 in the rack but thesedays it doesn't really get used unless i'm doing allot of mixing during a club set and then i tend to prefer it to the touch screen as it's allot more physical and hands on.

The 15" touch Screen was bought off ebay for around £150...

the only down side and quite a BIG downside is that since VDJ 5.1 came out they have made some of the important buttons smaller on the skin so it's now not as touch screen friendly as version 4.3 and 5 was especially if you have fat fingers like me... BRING BACK THE BIG BUTTONS on things like play, stop and cue that's what i say!

I have my MK2 for all the buttons, I wanted touch sensitive jogs so I can hold a track in place for mixing. latency is not an issue cuz I don't scratch. It may be an expensive fix for one wish but eventually I would like to make this happen.

Hi TDBennett.

I built my own 15" LCD Touchscreen monitor, and it work good with vdj, it is more comfortable than using mouse, the response is the same. You can build your own touchscreen monitor using the "built in Kit" from keytec technologies, see www.magictouch.com it works with your fingers or with a pen. My touchscreen is 3 years old, and i use a Viewsonic 15" LCD standard monitor, open the frame, put the built in kit that consist of a 2 mm glass with the touchscreen membrane, take the flat cable out of the monitor to a USB converter box, conect it to your USB port, install thye drivers and........enjoy your vdj.

The cost of the built in kit is about $ 150.

good luck.
