Topic: Virtual DJ crashing all the time! [SOLVED]

I'm having issues with Virtual DJ crashing, it has been going on since 5.1. I think it happens sometimes when a song is playing and I load another song in the other player and the BPM value changes from the original value that was scanned by the 5.0 version. Or it could be due to the skin I am using, I will need yo use the default skin to see if it crashes I guess.

I really don't know whats going on, but I am frustrated with the lack of stabilty of this program. Please help I don't know how to resolve this issue thanks. I love this program, I'm sure there is a solution to my problem. Can anyone help me?

If you get the smiley face before the crash. then chances are the crashes have generated a crash report. Look in My Doc>VirtualDJ, to see if there is any crash reports, if so use notepad to copy/paste them here

Then DJ cel (a teamer) can go though it and tell you why you have these crashes.
 
Cool I'll check it out, I eliminated the different skin possibility. It seems to crash when I click on certain songs on the browser no matter what skin I use. The recover doesn't actually work I checked the box to send report. I'll see if I can find the crash report....To be continued...

I was just wondering if my cash report is being looked at? I have a gig this Saturday so I hope I can resolve this before I DJ.
 

I don't know mate, DJ cel normally posts to tell you whats up with it. He is probably busy and hasn't seen it yet, maybe PM him with the report



 
I am sure they are taking a look at this.
 
Yeahhhhhh uhhh Yeahhhh.............. is that his profile dj cel or dj marcel? On this forum I don't know how to search for users. Other than that why is there support where your issues are answered by a person. Instead of posting an issue on the message board and hoping your question will be answered doesn't seem efficient, considering it's a very expensive program. This program crashes constantly for me, I reinstalled it defraged my external hard drive and it still crashes.

I'm getting frustrated with the lack of support, I paid for this program can I GET HELP!

I am sure they are taking a look at this. Sorry for my impatience I have a gig on Saturday and I want to use VDJ. I'll relax.... deep breathes :-D
 
It may be my external hard drive it's a Maxtor because when I plug my WD external hard drive with the same music on it so far no crashes. Can it be because I defraged an external hard drive? Should I delete all the music off of that Hard drive and transfer all the music from the WD back onto it or do you think the hard drive is jacked up?
 
It looks like to me it's all the same sort of crash. As for using the different harddrive, I would mate, better be safe than sorry.

Don't delete anything from your maxtor harddrive, till you find out what's happening mate, but I would transfer your music across to the WD one. I've got a maxtor aswell but I've haven't had any problems with mine.

Thanx....... It really seems to be an external hard drive issue.......Again. The Maxtor OneTouch Mini 4 160 GB tended to get really hot, mostly after a BPM scan. My original WD Passport 80 GB (Black) completely died during a BPM scan. I am amazed that externals have such a small life span at least in my experience.

What hard drive would you recommend that will not overheat and is fast to access info? The Maxtor in my opinion was kinda slow, I think it's time for Seagate!

Is there a page dedicated to crash reports? I think that would be helpful.

U may tell more of ur problem at here n paste that crash report.

Do u have and use V5.1 n V5.2 on the same computer? Cos i see that u have V5.1 too on ur crash report.

It could be the electrical connection on the drive. I thought it was my drive, but turned out to be the electrical cord that was bad. I am not saying that this is you crash report problems. I am not qualified to decipher them. However, if you think you are having a drive problem, might as well look at the electrical connection.

Nah 5.1 is no longer on my computer I think the crash log doesn't get deleted when the new version comes out. It's not a driver thing sound card, video card etc. My external hard drive was dying out, now I got the dreadful "drive needs formatted" I clicked no. I only have 75% of my data backed up, I was trying to get everything off of the hard drive before it died. I was not able to retrieve that much it kept stopping the transfer when it could not read a file instead of skipping the song.

It's so frustrating, I then deleted the song and then I had to highlight the songs not trans and it would do it again. I think Virtual DJ corrupted my external hard drive because this is the second time a hard drive crashed shortly after a BPM scan or during one. Is this just a coincedence? I don't know I really hope not. Now my hard drive is done, this one at least is not clicking like the last one.

Data restoral is a ripoff but it may be cheaper since I don't think it's a mechanical issue. How can I restore my data? is there any software to use?

Sorry for the delay but I was very busy.

So it's an external crash and always the same one: I mean that it crashes outside the VirtualDJ code so it's very difficult to know why. However it seems to be a crash in a Windows dll. I would say SHLWAPI.dll

c0000006 means "in page io error" so a problem of Input/Output access

that's ok, I should have started with basic troubleshooting first. I'm going through acceptance stage of recovery now, LOL. I didn't lose everything.
