Well, not so much a saga... more a quest for information.
So, we all know that you can order replacement TCV's for VDJ here on the VDJ website, and everything works out great. You get the vinyls in a fairly short period of time, and I've had no problems with warping, BUT, they're a little steep at about $50 a pair shipped.
Knowing my Serato friends are only paying about $20 for a pair of replacements, and me being the cheapskate that I am, I decided to try out VDJ 5.1's new Noisemap engine and got a pair of Serato TCV's for about $25 shipped from the web. After a little bit of playing around, I got the Serato TCV's working "fairly" well. I wont go into why I say "fairly" well (probably my set up), but when I put old VDJ TCV's back on, I liked the response better.
So now I want to get some new TCV's but don't want to spend all that $$$! My first move was to do what I always do when looking for stuff to purchase as cheap as possible... I hit the web and Google up. I searched, and searched, AND SEARCHED! in vain for Numark's Virtual Vinyl Replacement TCV's but found almost nothing. Any store that said they had them also said they wouldn't have them 'till August 25, 2008 (I know this date is coming up, but I first started looking in May...). To add to my confusion, Numark's own website states that replacement TCV's for Virtual Vinyl can be purchased on their web store. So I dug throught there and, again, found nothing!
Now, I eventually found out through some emails with Numark that these can be ordered, but you have to call tech support. I haven't done this yet (I will as soon as I get out of this boring A** class I'm posting this from), but my real question is this:
Why has Numark made the purchase of these TCV's so elusive???
I'm not trying to knock anyone here. I really love the site, the product, and all the great help I get, I'm just curious as to why everything has worked out this way. Maybe it's some kindof corporate thing with the similarities b/w VDJ and Numark. Who knows!
Maybe someone on here has the answer? It's really no biggie, more just curiosity...
BUT........
For those who are wondering, you can apparently order replacement Numark Virtual Vinyl TCV's by calling Tech Support (and they're only $14.99 for a pair!): (401) 658-3131. Unfortunately, I think this is US only, but I will let everyone know how my call, and hopefully subsequent order, all pans out.

Thanks for this information, I'd like to give them a spin. Let us know how it turns out.

funny enough posts about vdj tcv don't get any responses, I've been whining about the comparisons between noisemap and vdj native one's for A while but you probably won't get not only answers but anyone sharing your concerns......

Here's a comparsion for you, you think you've got it bad.
In the UK VirtualDJ Vinyls cost £32 a pair delivered, that's $64 with the exchange rate.
Numarks Vinyls cost £30 a pair ($60), but you have to wait 7-10 days. Serato Vinyls cost £30 ($60) delivered.
I brought VirtualDJ own vinyls, they cost me £2 ($4) more than the other lot. I didn't mind paying that little bit more as I know I'm supporting VirtualDJ

@ jimmy b:
Yeah, I feel ya. I've always noticed that anything I run across on the web from the UK cost as much in lbs as in $'s, BEFORE the exchange rate, so I've always felt for you guys across the pond...
As far as VV TCV's, an UPDATE:
I called Numark and placed an order for 1 pair of VV TCV's. They cost $19.95.
While I was there, I ordered a few replacement parts for my TTX turntables (2x Target lights = $24, 2x Target light mounts = $4, 2x Tone arm clips = $4). Shipping = $6.95.
That's only $8 more than a set fo replacement VDJ TCV's, but I got the parts too!
Not knocking VDJ, but business is business, and when you can get the same thing for 1/2 price, well....

I bought some of the Numark ones from Westend DJ recently. £30 a pair which I was quite happy with as they let me check them out instore to make sure that I was happy they were not warped. Seeing as they last a so far limitless amount of time, $60 isn't a bad investment.
cobcobbs that was a sensible thing to do. I phoned Numark ages ago but they told me they don't deal with customers directly, maybe Numark USA are more helpful.

So, an update on my order from Numark...
I got my order in a timely manner and it was packaged well with no warped TCV....
BUT...
They forgot one of my TCV's!!!!!!!!!! WTF!?! What good is one???
So I called them up, confirmed that $19.95 buys one PAIR of TCV's, and then we looked over my order. The man on the phone agreed that this was an error on their part, and said he would get me a new TCV out free of charge (of course!) ASAP.
This was Monday, so all this info now is just a little FYI, but I'll update again when I get the new record.
Haven't tried the one TCV yet, but I'm sure it will work fine. Plus, I like the two diffrent colored sides of the Numark TCV's. You can match one to the left blue deck, and the other to the right red deck, if this is what your obsessive compulsive disorder requires ;)

so what your saying is its more expensive to buy the from Numark? 19.95 each 95 cents more then the vdj site?! Factor in the time you are losing from them messing up the order, was saving a few cents really worth it? Look, I'm in charge of the vinyls here and you can ask anyone here if they ever had a problem its always been fixed, if you have any questions feel free to ask. In the US vinyls are never more then 3 days out and Europe (uk) is about 2 days.

Sorry cyder, i think you may have misunderstood me.
Two Numark TCV's are $19.95 (about $10 each).
They only sent me one and charged me $19.95. I should have recieved two for that price. They acknowledged that it was there mistake and are correcting the problem free of charge. I'll give them the benifit of the doubt this time... So, they take care of any problems just like you do.
Now, I just went on our site to see how much it would be to buy two Virtual DJ TCV's. They are $14.95 each. This isn't too bad. What I feel is totally ridiculous is the $25 shipping!!! I just don't see how in the world two vinyls in a box, probably weighing less than 1lb, can possibly cost $25 to ship in the U.S.!!! Hell, anywhere in the world!
Bottom line: Two replacement TCV's from Numark shipped... ~$26
Two replacement TCV's from VDJ shipped........ ~$55
Like I said in previous post, I love VDJ, the community, all the help on the forums... just about everything! But I love $$$ too, and if I can save about $20 for the exact same thing, brand loyalty goes out the widow.
If we can somehow get VDJ TCV's down to, say, only $5 more than the Numarks, I'll pay the extra just to support VDJ, but IMHO, $20 is too steep.

I can explain to you why the shipping charge is the way it is keep in mind its not only shipping but handling as well, which means the box they come in
and the person who puts it in the box, the person that takes your order in the first place the company that charges your card all down the line trust me everyone gets
there piece. In case you haven't noticed with the rising cost of fuel as of lately the price of shipping has gone up as well. I can also tell you that atomix isn't making
any profit off the vinyls its pretty much break even.
