Topic: MIDI and DDM4000 Help

Dieses Thema ist veraltet und kann veraltete oder falsche Informationen enthalten.

I recently picked up the Behringer DDM4000 MIDI capable mixer and want to run VDJ with the MIDI functions. I downloaded the DDM4000 mapped .XML file but nothing happens in VDJ when I use my physical mixer. Aside from activating the General MIDI tool in VDJ, am I supposed to turn something on in the DDM4000 to get MIDI to work?

Still not recognizing new or existing commands. Is MIDI supposed to be grayed out like this?

Hey ViperVin, the MIDI being grayed out is not the concern here. Let me ask you a question, do you have a USB to MIDI? Something similar to this http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/Uno-main.html This is an essential piece of hardware that you must buy in order to make your mixer communicate with VDJ. Secondly, I see your using TT's. If your going to continue to use them, you also need a 4 in and 4 out sound card like the Hercules MK2, Maya 44 USB or ESI U46DJ.

When you have these two pieces, you take the MIDI to USB cable and connect MIDI in to MIDI in (back of the DDM4000) and MIDI out to MIDI out. Then USB to computer. Connect the TT's to the soundcard then turn on the mixer. Hold down the console setup knob and go down to crossfader. Make sure the crossfader has a (x) in the box. Then hit the MIDI/Start/Stop/Esc button.

Then open VDJ go to control panel right click on general midi, then go to config. Then add, and select mixer on the right side of the window. After you select mixer, look for crossfader on the right, select it and move the crossfader on the mixer. You should see a bunch of numbers going up and down in value as you move the crossfader from right to left. When you see this, your almost there.

You can now config the other channels that you don't use for MIDI functions that enable VDJ to work such as loop, sync, cue points etc. Possibilities are endless. I hope this helps you.

Hey syberman, I have the E-MU XMIDI 1x1 USB to MIDI adapter. I installed the drivers on my XP machine and it looked like everything ran okay. I wish they included a utility to make sure the adapter was detected and works correctly. Also, I am running VDJ with Maya44 USB. I've been using VDJ for over 2 years, and I just recently decided to go with a MIDI mixer and setup. So MIDI is basically brand-new to me.

Back to the setup, I followed your instructions, but never saw any numbers go up or down. VDJ was still in {autolearn} mode and nothing happened.

I am going to install the Traktor demo and see if that responds to MIDI so I can at least narrow down to see if its MIDI or a VDJ issue.

Any other suggestions?

Try swapping the MIDI plugs over - with some adaptors, you need to plug the cable labelled MIDI IN to the MIDI OUT socket. Also, is there a blinking MIDI led on the adaptor that would telll you if the mixer was sending out data?

Thanks for the help everyone. Had to swap the plugs like sherz mentioned.

Glad to hear that you got it working.

I love it when a plan comes together... :-)
