Where can i get the Conectiv as a stand alone unit, or do I have to purchase the package with Torq?

Thank you. That just narrowed down my purchase selection, drastically. What Type of Time Code are you using, TCV or TCCDs? If TCCDs, what make and model of CD players are you using?

Thanks again.

American Musical Supply sells the M-Audio Conectiv w/ the Torq software for $250US;
if you want the TCV and TCCDs it's $300US w/ the Torq software.

I'd be willing to pay $150-$200 for it, w/o the Torq software. But I don't think it comes that way.

@ kizzle

djkizzle and djpr1:

I just bought it right now from Musician's Friend (B-Stock, Full warranty) for $199, No TCV or TCCDs, though.

But you can't use the TORQ TCCDs and TCV with VDj anyway, right?

djpr1:

Nice CD players, bro. I use a more compact setup. My car is small :)
Denon DN-D6000. I gonna burn the TCCDs from here and get Busy!

Got my software, Conectiv arrives Friday, laptop get's shipped on the 19th......

Let's get busy!

I am using Conectiv with both CD's and Vinyl (VDJ timecode Cds and Vinyl). and everything runs great. When using vinyl you will need to switch the conectiv to phono and make sure you've grounded the turntable to the conectiv.

EDIT: you're correct Torq cds and vinyl don't work well with VDJ

Nice purchase You won't regret it.
Yes you are right Torq Cd's won't work with VDJ. PM me after you receive your new baby and let me know how you like it.
Also make sure to get the latest conectiv driver.

http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=support&tab=driver

^ Right on, brother. I'll PM you when it's all here. Maybe you can give me a hand or some pointers setting it all up.

So many things to do (In this order, I think):
* First, optimize Vista for audio in my new PC and get all the newest updates. Rip one music CD to the PC (To see if VDJ recognizes it
later)
* Second, download and install the newest M-Audio Conectiv drivers.
* Third, physically install M-Audio conectiv.
* Fourth, download and install latest VDJ software version. (I wonder if the VDJ CD-ROM I just got has the newest version?)
* Fifth, start VDJ for the first time and let it recognize audio hardware installed.
* Sixth, connect my CD players to Conectiv and optimize VDJ for TCCD control.
* Seventh, begin ripping CD collection to new PC.

Wow. I hope I didn't forget anything......

Eighth - have fun!

Loooooong nights ahead,It's all good bro'!!

Always havin' fun, brother.

Tell me about it....

This Is what use to normalize my music. It work great. When it comes to dj ying with mp3s and organizing music. My dont want to bother because they say that it takes too long. Now listen to the tech king and normalize the music. Enjoy...

http://www.nch.com.au/switch/index.html

Is it necessary to take the time to normalize an mp3 collection? With VDJ's auto gain feature, it seems once you load a track into the player the mp3 is "normalized" to a consistent level. Also, approx. how long does it take to normalize? is it an automatic process...choose a folder and hit GO?

When you normalize Mp3s. you are normalizing the source... Then you dont really need to use gain that much.

You dont really need to do it but its better to have it normalized.

Yeah, it levels your entire library rather than using the gain to level each song on the fly (which you may have to do anyway).

my results ...IMHO there is a difference not that much on my system not enough to warrent a switch i use xlr connections to speakers
so i feel like i would be taking a step back using unbalanced rca for connection..then again maybe i had the darn thing hooked up wrong
but i got thru the night...

my 2 cents
