Hello
Well my name is Alex and , I am new here. I started using Virtual Dj after some of my friends recommending it. I have used a few softwares and Virtual Dj so far has been the best. I recently decided to get a bit more serious about my mixing. I ve never done any gigs before. But I am getting a Hercules Mk2 for my birthday. I was wondering if anyone had any advice. I am sure there are plenty of experts around here and any help would be greatly appreciated

Well Axel, what kind of mixing are you going to do? House? Hip Hop? Also, what kind of parties? House parties, weddings, clubs? Its all very subjective to what you hope to accomplish....so why don't you help us and give everyone an idea of what you want to do....

I like to mix house and techno and trance. I also don't mind mixing funk since that is what I started with. I would be more leaning toward clubs gigs but weddings and things like that would be fine

Well Alex, I can only give you a couple of bit's of advice,
Firstly, and most important, Practice. Practice mixing all types of music, not just your favorite one but all genres, learn to mix all. Secondly, always enjoy mixing, there will be times when you mess up, don't worry about it, just start again.
Finally once you start getting gigs and playing out, stay grounded mate. because that what spoils some guys, they get big headed, and get that look at me attitude, and think they can take on the world, once you are around other DJ's you will see what I'm talking about.
There you go, not much, but I guess every bit helps.

Thank you so much Jimmy B , every bit helps. I am just doing it to for the music . I mean I am sure the paycheck is always nice but it is all about the beats.
