I bet there's allot of treads in this forums about this topic, but when the search function work sooooo bad, and the wiki contains soooo little info, I'll create a new one:)
I want to check how my computer handles video recording, but the virtual dj software says there's no codec found.
What shall I do, and where to find these codecs? (and yes, I've checked the manual)
Thanks in advance

If you want an Older method check my blogs.
But it requires 2 computers.

this is how far ive got, install xvid codec http://www.digital-digest.com/software/download.php?sid=1052&ssid=0&did=1
go to start menu >xvid> configure encoder
other options button at bottom turn OFF display encoding status (Seems to crash VDJ)
go into Virtual dj and set your encoding to XVID instead of mp4
start recording you mix, when its recording dont change the rez of the output window, output screen as this will crash xvid encoder.
Did find it a bit buggy to get working so im gonna test all the angles tonight (starting recording with 1 / 2 decks loaded formats ect) but seems to work
hope this helps and will keep you posted (unless someone points us to a MP4 encoder)

Thanks allot mattpattie. Will try this when I'm back from school..
I know you can record via 2 PC's or a DVD recorder and so on, but this is not what I'm looking for. Thanks anyway Marcel(lo :D)!
It's kinda annoying the video recording don't work "out of the box". It can't be that hard for the software developers to include a codec, so it just works? There must be something I've overseen?

Since I cannot edit any longer, I need to double post..
I've tried the XVID encoder now, but my machine has waaaaaay to low memory to get it recording.. Is there any other (bad quality) encoders that don't use so much mem & cpu?

my encoder was working with XVID, i was recording something and went to start it over again. I used the scroll button on the mouse and got a VDJ crash. Now when I try to record it says "Video Encoder Error". D/L the version posted on this thread and still the same thing :/

It's taking up way to much CPU on my machine, so I'm looking for another encoder to do bad quality videos, that don't need a supercomputer.. Anyone knows where to get one?
