Hello, i recently bought a new RMX controller and a new laptop. When i used the free PRO time on one of my other computers, the sound worked just fine. But when i set up my controller and my new laptop, the music pops and stutters all the time. I read some of the SELECTED GUIDES post in the forum, but i dont know whats making the stuttering.
Almost forgot... the only times this happens is when there are much bass in a song, and then it stutters. dont know if its my computer, because the use of the CPU is always around 20%, or if it is my speakers or my console. would really appreciate som help, because i have my first gig in one week and dont want any emberrassing pops coming out of my computer :P
PC SPECIFIKATIONS:
Windows Vista Premium 32-bit
AMD Athlon Dual-Core QL-60 1,90ghz
3,00gb RAM
Nvidia Geforce 8200mg
thanks in advance :)

make your changes one at a time and then set a restore point ,then test it
remove the battery
try these first , you may get lucky
set restore point disable your wifi ... set restore point , test
turn power mgmt all items to never ( or equivalent in vista ) no screen saver also
try changing priority from programs to background processes
that's a coupla easy starters try that ... if no luck , still lots of things left to try
one general thing i recommend is get rid of the default bloatware/ barfware it came loaded with and defrag it .... i know it's new , but it's way more fragmented than you'd expect

are you using 5.2.1 and have the latest updates from hercules, if not get those then see how it goes.
edit: just noticed its a new machine, also install the latest version of directx, it may be new but you don't know how long its been in the warehouse.

I have always had these issues.I have recently found the answer.
dump the nvidea and buy the cheap 3450 ATI card ($50 AU). For sound use external ASIO card like MAYA44. but must be ASIO.
I have read all the tips over the years and tried everything. This is the only combination that has worked. In fact before this I had little faith in the VDJ but now it is so smooth and reliable it makes my hairs stand on end.
It seams crazy that ATI works better because they use the same chip set as nvidia. I have set up 2 units this way now. Both were shit before and both are great now.
PS. Automix is so smooth in transition from song to song with this set up. Do it. Do it now
