Tying to add K-lite to VDJ;;;
Discobrian24; KLite thing, you install it and on the filetypes in VDJ you change the codec for that file to Windows Media Player not
VDJ decoder, that is how u use KLite with VDJ.
I did the above but I don't see K-lite in the Codecs for WMP...
Shouldn’t they be there?
If so what do I need to do to add them to WMP?
I look and I'm unable to find a way to do so.

Is there really any need to start hundreds of threads all troubleshooting your video issues?
Anyway, by selecting WMP as the decoder, you are effectively handing off the decoding to whatever WMP would use on your system - VDJ doesn't list the specific codec. Also bear in mind that K-Lite is not a codec; it is a codec pack.

Thank you for your concern but this isn’t about that particular issue,, This is about installing and being able to get VDJ to work with it.
And thank you for that information on K-lite but please let me ask you,
Is K-lite is a codec pack like whats provided with VDJ?
If I, and I did add in VDJ Codecs Extensions AVI, VOB, MPEG2, MP4 with Decoder; Windows MediaPlayer video decoder then
VDJ would only use K-lite Codec Pack
Did I need to add those extensions?
Do I need to remove VDJ's Codecs (video Decoders)?
Is there a way to got VDJ to show the K-like Codec Pack in the list of Decoders?
Thank you for your help

It's related to your video issues, thats why I mentioned it ;)

VDJ doesn't supply a codec pack as such, it has it's own decoders that are built into the software.

You should only have each video type you want to use listed once, pointing to the relevant decoder.

No, because as I said in my post: K-Lite is not a decoder, it is a collection of codecs. By selecting WMP you are using your systems default decoder instead which may be once of the K-Lite supplied codecs. Which actual codec is used will depend upon the filetype.

Thank you.. now I’m finally starting to understand this
You should only have each video type you want to use listed once, pointing to the relevant decoder.
Should I delete the Codecs from the list from VDJ and replace them with the WMPVD.?

When I install K-lite onto my pc it automatically installs and replaces the pc’s Default set?
Is there better Codec collection, pack out there thats better than all the rest either to download or purchase..

not with understanding codecs... I trying to understand each part of the issue and before having them on one thread was very discombobulating.. each time I created one it would go back to the same questions and answers.. This is dedicated to JUST codecs. Adding, removing, finding good one and so on.
Would you like to answer the above about a better Codec pack or individual?
.. and please,, just delete those threads the are locked
Thank you

We do not delete threads Paul. Tayla is not far afield with his comments.
Its completely understandable you want to fully understand something. Opening up related threads on the similar topics is confusing at best. In most cases we lock duplicate threads. SBDJ has pointed out you do not need to open a fresh thread to learn a similar topic.
Please limit this line of reasoning to one forum. I'll let you decide, this one or the one in the EXP forum. But all others asking about codes you generate will be locked from now on. I hope you understand, this is nothing personal. If we allow you to have multiple threads we have to allow everyone to. Then the forums will be a nightmare. This is nothing personal.....

well i tried quite sometime back on advising the k-lite pack which has always worked for me, but that was many months back and i hear since then you've really gone to town on your equipment updates, nice one, so as soon as i can think of anything that may be of help i'll chime in for you,
only thing i can suggest is try out the new windows 7 when you have a break in your gigs and time to try it out as i have heard some good reports on it working with 64, mind there maybe a few bad reports that i'm yet to hear about, once again good luck on your fix.

I don't mix video, so I do not know enough to help you. Personally I never delete any codec/driver unless I know for a fact it needs deleted. They do nothing if they are not needed.

I just reading a post on another site say having multiple Codecs for the same thing could create conflicts
geposted Thu 23 Jul 09 @ 2:27 pm
Yes it very well could. But, unless you know for a fact it is causing a conflict don't delete anything

haven't actually tried the system yet, i'm running vista just now and had scheduled to try it out throughout next week after this weekends gigs, the reports i'm getting is it definately has got an edge over vista, but until next week i won't be able to comment, everything up until then will just be hearsay.
you could try 32 you'll not know if it will help until you try it, once again make sure you have a big enough window between gigs.

Why didnt you buy the EXACT card you had in there that burnt up?? Did you FULLY remove all drivers and all registry traces from the old card using Driver Cleaner Pro. I told you last week to do a reinstall of Vista with fresh drivers and a fresh Virtual Dj and you just keep goin on and on and on.
geposted Thu 23 Jul 09 @ 2:36 pm
But you do not know for certain, so don't delete anything. Did you re-install Vista like Brian suggested? If your not willing to try re-installing Vista your spinning your wheels....
geposted Thu 23 Jul 09 @ 2:37 pm
AND iif you are runnin straight vobs and mpeg there really is no need for the KLite codec pack.
