You set up the ad-hoc network from your PC or Mac then the android device sees it as any other wifi connection. Nothing special required, I do it all the time.

I'm doing this for Android. However Touch OSC is also available for iOS as well. So, there's a very good chance you can get this on iOS aw well :) (But I'll have to check this since I'm using a 'custom' screen size)

oh please test it :) i want it now now now now ;D <3

3 different phones and 2 tablets all see the network but won't connect. I'm using 4.1.1 Jellybean. I did a search and this is a known problem. With a router in place it works fine, without the router it sees the Ad Hoc but won't connect.

Here ya go, http://mobile.pcadvisor.co.uk/how-to/google-android/3372947/connect-android-phone-ad-hoc-network/

I can pull up hundreds of these threads, it won't work unless you root the phone/tablet with a certain rom.

Try CONNECTIFY if you're using PC. Quickest solution for all my wifi connection needs.

Unfortunately I'm on a Mac. Thanks for the info though.

That's what I love about Windows. Things just work.

The six months I spent with a MacBook Pro was like having an arm missing!

So then it doesn't work for you either?? At least on the Mac side it doesnt and don't turn this into a Mac vs PC thing cause it's not. It's more like Google vs Ad Hoc...... come on Keith.

Like I said I'll just have to carry around a spare router which isn't that big of a deal......

Just winding you up Huey :)

Yeah I know, just the thought of buying an iPad gave me the shivers when I can spend 100 bucks on an Android tablet and do the same thing , lol!!

Well I would never have another one. I bought the 64gb 3G one when it came out for £700 and just 2 years later it's rendered obsolete. No update to iOS and now I can't update apps or install many new ones as they require the latest OS.

99% of Android devices have unlocked bootloaders and custom roms available that avoid that situation.

Apple no more for me!

Might have found a solution for this little problem, I'll post here if it works as others may run into this as well.

Well I'm back, I didn't get the tablet rooted so I still can't use an Ad Hoc network BUT when I use my tablet as a mobile hotspot and connect the Mac to the tablet everything is a go!! Just have to manually type in the ip address but that s not a big deal. So there you go problem solved......

I have similar problems regarding the ad-hoc network.

If I set up a network with my iPhone my tablet connects immediatly but if I set up a network with my MacBook Air the Samsung Galaxy Note will neither find the network nor connect to it even though SSID is published and I manually add it to my network list.

Result: I added a wlan router :D

Try using your tablet as a hotspot and have your Mac connect to the tablet.

I was prepared to carry around an extra router but this way seems to be working well. I run some more test and report back.

Just bumping this up as a lot of us don't or won't pay for an iPad, lol!! Anything happening with your template Phantom?? I could probably set up my own but if you have one made id love to try it Please........

Any news on this, just stubled onto the thread which seemed really positive but then dies off in July 2013.
Phantom, any updates, need anything from us lot?

:)

I have all the files available, but I have stopped developing the project because I gave away the tablet to my nephew.

I will try to "finish" some parts of the code that I had left under development and upload it on the next week.

Thanks!

That would be brilliant, thanks.

Phantom, sorry to push this but any chance of the release you mentioned.

Thanks
