today I went to an Acme supermarket to get a few things like hotdogs ......i didn't buy any hotdogs .....i wish i was Fred Dietz & Watson ....sheesh

anybody got a pig ....

All that I can say about this whole thing is that it is our own fault that we are paying high gas here in the USA. We, as Americans, could insist on drilling for more domestic oil...but the "tree huggers" say no. We, as Americans, permitted Global Economy and now the so called third world countries are becoming more dependent on oil that we used to use, thus causing a shortage. We, as Americans, elected and re-elected an idiot whose family is heavily involved in oil and we wonder why it continues to go up? We, as Americans, permit that same idiot to "help" his "friends" receive tax credits and price gouging from the oil companies. We, as Americans, permit that the oil speculators continue driving the price of oil through the roof.

We have stood by and watched our jobs leave our country like never before. We have watched our 401k and retirement savings shrink every quarter. And we watch the price of gas continue to rise while everyone says...it's not my fault. It's all about greed.

So am I a spoiled American? Yeah I am. I pay my taxes and want people in front of my country that will put ME first for a change. Think of MY needs, MY wants, MY future...how can they benefit ME? Might sound selfish...but every country that allows democratic voting, has it's citizens desiring that their leaders think of THEM first. Can we help the world? Sure but help ME first.

Is that too much to ask? I want MY government to think of ME first. Looking forward to a potential change(my fingers are crossed) in November. Out with the corrupt idiot and in with the less corrupt candidate.

Working at the airport is getting outrageous. There are many charges.. To checkin 1 bag is 15 dollars and to check in a second is 25 bucks. To carry a pet on borad is 100 bucks, an excess bag cost 100 dollars etc. All because of gas prices. The are the cost of traveling on American Airlines
 

It's not just in the US, it's all all over the world,

wow I can't belive this didn't happen sooner. The problem is we think its our right to fly, when really its a privilege. How much would it cost to send that 50 pound bag ups across the country UPS? You can bet it would be more then 15 bucks.
 
It would cost quite a bit more than 25 dollars Cyder but...then again in order to ship something via UPS it requires...
a dispatcher to coordinate the pickup, a driver to pickup and deliver the package to a logistics hub, another person to unload the truck, the package then goes through a very high tech sorting computerized series of conveyors to locate it's destination, then another person now loads the aircraft, then it flies to a hub in it's destination city where yet another employee unloads the aircraft and loads another truck, then the truck with it's driver take the box to it's final destination.
WOW alot of people are involved in sending a 50 pound box through UPS versus I carry, load and unload my own bag onto a plane.

So yes I understand your point...but there is a HUGE difference. So I do not fault the airlines, they need to make money and survive during this massive down turn. The cost of jet fuel has soared to record levels and with the added weight of baggage, they have to impose fees.

But Caliente123 was talking about checking a bag, which does go through a similar process as UPS computers people etc but in a condensed time frame hours not even overnight. The latest I heard was for charges for carry on's that don't fit in the overhead. I can totally understand that.

Nothing terrifies me more than a heavily armed dude on a SEGWAY....lol....
