the hs5500 is a little pricey. it looks pretty sick tho. i have decided to go with the rmx for now instead of the other countless options.

after i pulled the trigger i started reading all of the problems that the rmx has with VDJ.

it seems as though every single controller or all in one with built in soundcard has some sort of issues with VDJ.

right now i am having problems with video after i installed the new version of VDJ, 5.2.

the skins for the rmx suck too, the VDJ vs. RMX is one of the best but the straight rmx skin sucks balls.

i figure that rather than spending a whole bunch of cash on a unit that is most likely going to cause me some sort of problems that i would go with a cheap, solid built unit, withthe 4/4 in/out capabilities and the use of headphones and mic.

whats up with the VDJ HE?

anyway, thanks for the input.

hello,
on this topic of controllers, I have the Hercules MP3 and want to move up.
I am very used to turntable mixing, scatching and blending and would like a controller more dedicated to giving me vinyl feel and precision.
Looking at the Denon S1200, Pioneer CDJ-400 and the Numark ICDX. Will visit the local toystore and see what the look-feel of these units.
Want to know if what the experiences are with these units.
Thanks..

The Denon S1200's are nice with VDJ. I got them along with an Audio Innovate AEM 100i mixer because they gave me the option of either using Midi with VDJ, Djing with CD's, or Djing with USB drives. They are affordable and pretty much in line, with some added features, to the Pioneer CDJ 400's. Gilboogie and Ellaskins have some great tutorials and videos on these at youtube.

If you are on a budget, then go with the Denon S1200's and maybe later add a Vestax VCI-100 if you already have a second sound card (I use the Audio 8 Dj).

If you have the money, then go with either a Pioneer CDJ800/1000 as they are becoming the standard in many clubs, then add a Vestax VCI-300 once they get native support for VDJ to your setup, etc...

See my profile for photos of my setup.

If you are in the States, go to www.agiprodj.com, they have good sales and service.

the HS5500 is no where near done.....

we played with them all weekend in Atlantic city at the VDJ booth, and I can tell you two things right off the bat that suck....

first, the moving platter is extremely sensitive to virbation..the damn thing was warbling like you were tapping your finger on the platter...

second of all, the platter is not very torquey at all.. if you stop it with your finger, it springs forward like it's on a rubber band... not cool if you're trying to mix..

I was really not impressed, especially for the price...

Remeber, there was an update after the Atlantic City convention. I have been using the 5500 flawlessly from the start, but all of those problems went out the door for me as soon as 5.2.1 came out. I love my 5500 never had a problem yet.

Here is video on youtube from Dj's using the Denon S1200's

Here's Video of someone scratching with the Denon; granted its not with VDJ but its almost the same method you would use with the software:

If I get brave enough, maybe I'll shoot some video of VDJ with the Denon's in use.
